Hi from Sunny Florida
Hey All,
I've been lurking long enough - time to bring some content to the party.
I've been playing guitar for about four decades now. Instead of switching to golf or fishing or whatever, I still gig as my hobby. I keep fairly busy - this week I'm playing out three times. The first two are "tree lighting and concert" events that a couple of the local city's put on for the holidays, the third is at one of the coolest rock clubs in the area. What makes it cool for a musician? How about a full stage with a drum riser, lights, PA and soundman provided, band parking area, easy load in, food provided and nice staffers.
My current band is an 8 piece doing classic rock, a few funk tunes and some R&B. It's the first time I've ever played regularly with a horn section, which has it's own +'s and -'s.
See y'all around the boards.

Boston's On The Beach in Delray.

All the cities around here put up a giant Christmas tree, then have an event where they make a big show of turning on the lights for the first time. There's usually fake snow blowing around, food trucks/tents, and entertainment. Ya know, "fun for the whole family".
To me it means reminding the singer that there's no swearing in the mic and that parking will be awful because tons of people show up. They're usually fun gigs once it's stage time, though.
Fake edit: I tried to upload a pic of last weeks event from PhotoBucket, but apparently I'm none too bright.

Are you in Suffragette or County Line Road? I've seen those bands play before.

No, but both of those bands are local to the area and a drummer friend of mine used to play with the keyboard player from Suffragette.
Solid Brass is the name of the band - it brings attention to our horn section.
Re: Hi from Sunny Florida
Please help...I'd like to post a couple of pics.
1) Do I need to use a host like PhotoBucket or can I attach directly somehow?
2) I tried using PhotoBucket, but either I'm grabbing the wrong link, formatting it wrong or maybe the Preview function on GAB doesn't show the picture?
Please help a newb. (I tried to find a tutorial, but no luck.)

I've never seen you guys before. Do you have any upcoming bookings in Central or South Broward?

Thanks. Will it show up in the preview mode or only when I complete the post?

The next one I see is in April! Some Concert Series type of gig in Coral Springs.
Most of our gigs are in the West Palm to Delray area, but we do venture further occasionally. Going the other direction, Harbourside in Jupiter booked us for New Years Eve.

Welcome, man.
Nah. It should work in preview mode if it's set up right. I always test images in preview mode first.
