buy a used squire or used mexican tele. my luthier has had to do extensive work on every guitar that he has gotten from them for clients looking for bare minimum priced instruments. he basically buys them giving the client a disclaimer at this point that they will end up spending as much as a new squire after he inspects it, does the fretwork (every one has needed frets leveled/recrowned).

Do you have to have a new guitar? If not, you can snag a used Squier Classic Vibe for under $200. You can find MIM or MIK Teles for mid 200s.

I haven't played a Xaviere and seen some people post good things on them. But at the same time, I've seen others have issues with the necks, frets, etc.

The prices on used stuff is so low right now, I'd spend a little bit more and grab a higher quality used instrument, but whatever floats your boat. :)

This is truth. I had initially planned on selling mine when I got my Reactor. I couldn't do it. Its too good a guitar to sell for as little as they do. So, now I have it & the Reactor. :D

Squier classic vibes are awesome. Even the pups sound good.

I didn't mind the stock pups but I put in a set of Bill L Keystones. Much better for my playing :ymapplause:
