Rola Celestion G12-80 torn dust cap

Post by mty »

Hello all you good people out there,

Does anyone have any experience of fixing a torn dust cap for this speaker.

It might be a slightly unusual version of the G12-80 with a fairly large silver dust cap. This G12-80 is one of a pair in a Maine amp.

Hey Marty,

Welcome. I can't see the pictures you posted. But generally speaking you should be fix the tear (if doable, I can't see the pics) by using masking tape to pull out the dust cap to it's original position, then gently applying a bit of super glue.

Is it affecting the sound at all?? If it's not, I'd just leave it alone...

The d-cap shouldn't move a lot there. Obviously someone/something pressed against it and cracked the aluminum.

Super glue should seal it up fine. You can mix it with tissue if you need to fill larger gaps.
