Silvertone rehab

Post by Riffraff »

Found a beater "non working" 1492 near my office on CL for $195.

Fastest fix ever....just had to re-attach one of the speaker wires.

Before rehab

All stock.

After rehab

New grounded power cord, ANOS RCA gray plate 6V6GT's, ANOS Sylvania 12AX7's, new 3/8" birch ply speaker baffle board, Weber Sig 12A speaker, replaced bad pot on MIC channel, installed jacks on both the 4 ohm and 8 ohm OT taps for more flexibility.

I've been having a lot of fun with this little screamer lately. It's become the heart of a perfect little back seat grab & go rig.

Pretty cool! Great find! I'm really curious to hear one of those in person sometime.

They are awesome. Here is a tone compilation I put together with my two 1482's. Please excuse the poor production. I don't have all of the fancy recording gear guys have around here. I just used a SM57 and a Jamman looper pedal to do the recordings and strung them all together.

They are a lot of fun and definitely capture that small tube amp on the edge of meltdown vibe we've all heard on so many classic rock tracks.
