Anybody using free tokyodawn plugins

Post by BroSlinger »

They have an eq and a compressor that look cool and come highly recommended. I just installed them, but playtime is over. :(

Do you use compression on your guitar through your pedal when recording and also the plug in or just one or the other?

Dude, I'm using compression four times on every guitar.
Pedal comp - after guitar
Hardware comp after mic preamp
Comp plug in on guitar track
Comp plug in on master mix down.

I need to do some studying....

Also need to learn mastering. Was thinking i might get this:

"Precision Multiband Plug-In

Original UA Design Featuring Five Spectral Bands of Premium Compression, Expanding, or Gating.

The Precision Multiband is a specialized mastering tool that provides five spectral bands of dynamic range control. Compression, Expansion or Gate can be chosen separately for each of the five bands. The unparalleled flexibility and easy to follow graphical design of the Precision Multiband make it the ideal tool for the novice as well as the seasoned mastering engineer.

Five bands of Compression, Expansion or Gate
Gain, Ratio, Threshold, Attack, Release & Bandwidth
Filterbank modes: Linear Phase & Minimum Phase
Requires a UAD DSP Accelerator Card or Apollo Interface available from authorized dealers worldwide
View All Features
Use the Precision Multiband for anything from complex dynamic control to simple de-essing. Two filterbank modes offer precise linear-phase or minimum-phase gain control; use the linear-phase option for perfectly phase-coherent results, or minimum-phase for a more “analog” sound. Both filterbank modes achieve the magnitude response of a Linkwitz-Riley filter and provide perfect magnitude reconstruction."

Dude, $250? I'm sure that's a great package, but there's cool free stuff to practice on.

The guy who developed molot comp and limiter#6 made this graphical comp/parametric eq called nova67 that has a mastering preset you can tweak.

+1 on Slate. I like the "Slate sound", how all of their plugins give a slight saturation / artificial harmonic content to the highs and high mids.

They're doing a $20 a month subscription plan to get you all their shit...and after the first year you get a $200 credit. I'm waiting for that to start, then going gung ho.
