Recabinet 4 Engl Savage clip

Post by exafro »

I'm not sure how I feel about this model in Recab. Its pretty dark and has a shit ton of low mids that really mess with my mixing style. I'm hard headed though I wanted to see if I could make it work for me. I think the feel of this plugin is great, but its taking me a long time to get everything dialed in the way I like. Still waiting on the eureka moment. Out of a mix, it sounds absoltely stunning, but getting it to translate is a whole other issue. Anyway, here's the clip, how does it sound?

It's definitely dark but sounds pretty good to me.

Love your riffs.. always impressed every time you post a clip even though it's not that often. :cop:

Thanks Ruiner, I used to post a whole bunch more back in the HCAF days but time is pretty limited and the way I write is totally inefficient, so less clips lol
Anyway, messed around some more and did a version with the Psycho B model and Ownhammer/Redwirez impulses.

The first clip sounds great but I agree that it's low-mid city, way too much for a mix with bass. But the "huge guitars, but no bass guitar" vibe is actually really cool in a unique way and it works.

Second clip sounds good but something about it isn't jiving with me. Even though it would fit a mix with bass better, I think the overall character of the first one is a lot more pleasing.

Mark, those clips all have a bass in them. I'm guessing I didn't mix it in high enough lol
Anyway, did another clip today. Damage model, Sterling + Eagle cabs.

Top clip is a bit much, but the others all sound good.

Been digging Recabinet 4 for the late night stuff. I still prefer micing an amp, but it'll do in a pinch.

1st and 3rd clips sound great man! Not digging the second one tone wise. You write some bad ass riffs though. Always dig your stuff.
