Keep =C='s in my JVM, or try JJ 6CA7's?

I put new =C= EL34's in my JVM a few months back, but also have a pair of new JJ 6CA7's that I've been thinking about trying. Anybody digging the JJ's in their Marshall?

The =C= tubes sound great, but if you have the JJ tubes why not give them a whirl? I have read that people like them in their Marshall amps over at the Marshall Amp Forum...

I say throw them in and give them a whirl!

While this has been my experience as well, and my local dealer has also a disclaimer about poor QC on their power tubes, Diezel now recommends JJ KT77's as their tubes of choise for the Herbert. So who knows, it could be that they fixed their qc issues?

Anywhoo, OP already has the tubes, so why not just try them out?

What do you have to lose? Throw them in and try them out. That said, JJs are terrible and winged =c=s are the best IMO as far as reliability. Give dat shit a try.

JJ stuff does take a bit of an unfair panning. Some of their old EL34's were shitty but their 6V6-S, KT77 and KT88's are solid tubes and they are one of the few companies with the decency to still provide data sheets for their products. Anyway, you'll need to use something when =C= stockpile runs out ;)

Yes, well aware. I put a pair in my friend's 2205, and biased. However, it's not just another EL34. The bottles are closer to a 6L6. You're no longer at HC, but your mentality leads me to believe you might be confused?

JJ's suck balls .. [you asked]. :wank: :wank: :wank: :wank: :wank:

I disagree, as I'm sure many others will as well. Their 6L6 are among the most durable, as are their KT77's. Can't say I've had any bad experiences with their ECC83S's, either.

You sound like a jerkoff.

Honestly I'm not much of a fan of JJ power tubes myself.
I do like their preamp tubes though.

I love Winged C EL34s but they're not worth the coin IMO.
Ruby EL34BSTRs are the best dollar to quality EL34 in my experience.

Have you considered EH 6CA7s?
I've heard many good things about them but have yet to give them a try myself.
