Idk if it's been brought up in this thread, but if you like incredible HBO series, Oz was incredible, definitely worth watching. I'd put it up there with the sopranos and the wire

I've got two episodes left in house of cards and I've had a hard time getting through it. It doesn't have the hard driven intensity the other two seasons had. I'm actually just watching it to get through it instead of enjoying it.

Top gear, on the other hand, is the best show IN THE WORLD!

I just saw that Franklin & Bash got cancelled.

Pisses me off - that was a great show. Good writing, storylines, actors, etc. I guess I need to dumb-down my expectations. Apparently, the majority of the TV-watching public can't handle anything that requires them to pay attention. Or think. If it isn't a "reality" show, it doesn't seem to last long. Sad...

I missed all of those, even though they are all up my alley stylistically. I have never been one to be able to justify subscribing to an entire channel for 1 show and a bunch of boxing matches I wouldn't watch. I should have watched the Sopranos years ago but my desire to watch is long gone. I am going to try watching the Wire at some point.

Started watching Arrow this weekend. Pretty damn fun show. I went into it expecting it to be barely watchable, but they're doing a pretty darn good job so far. Granted, only about 5 episodes in, but I like how they slowly unfold more of his backstory in small flashbacks in each episode while focusing on the present day mostly.

We started Game of Thrones over yesterday. Six episodes in a sitting. Good lord they did a lot in those first few episodes. Then it just sorta tapers off into never-never land other than killing a bunch of people every once in a while.

Also started watching the US The Office from the beginning last week. I was surprised how quickly they branch off from the main UK tropes and create their own identity. I was always under the impression based on commercials when it started that it was going to be a blatant remake for the first season or so.

Wife picked up the collector's edition box set for Sons of Anarchy and we finally started the seventh season over the weekend. Why the fuck does Jax believe Jemma? It's not like he hasn't known she's full of shit ten times over before?

Also, fuck Juice. God. I mean, I get it, life shit on him. But he should whip out the truth on somebody. Fuck sake.

Seems like Jax is intent on destroying himself and everyone around him. At this point I'm not quite sure why everybody's on board with his rampage, including the ones who weren't on board with his previous bullshit. I'm starting to see the setup for the nuclear option looming on the horizon, and seemingly everybody has a finger on the button.

Haven't seen A Young Doctor's but the others are all pretty solid. Here is my ranking:

1. The Fall (by a LONG shot)
2. Rectify
3. Hinterland
4. Southcliffe

You should also add Broadchurch.

Ah, good to know. We were about to go in that EXACT opposite order..

We'll give The Fall a shot first then.

I liked Broadchurch quite a bit. Hinterland started off nice and dark but I felt like it lost it's momentum after the first few episodes. Broadchurch actually started back up and is available week by week on BBC site.

I realize everybody else has probably seen it at this point, but lulz were had when Jemma asked the little dude if he knew what an accident was and he asked if she did on Sons. Right to the point. I think we have six episodes left to go now. Can't wait to see who spins out next.

I have such mixed feelings about Broadchurch. On the one hand, the female lead is excellent. I love when "real" looking women who are not pencil thin or supermodel beautiful are allowed to shine.. On the other hand, David Tennet's character is basically "Generic Damaged Male Stereotype #1." Plus, in the end, the crime makes no sense.

There's a season 2? How do either of the main characters even still have jobs?

The female lead makes the series, imo. It is a wonder they are still gainfully employed

Have you watched Happy Valley? Excellent police drama from the UK. I really wish they would do another season of that; though I am not sure how they could as it suffers from the same problem a lot of these series have. Once you solve the crime, how do you continue onward without changing everything? Law and Order does it week to week but I feel more invested in something that carries over from one episode to the next. The trick is keeping it fresh while not wearing out your welcome.

Yeah, I actually meant to mention Happy Valley as another show with an awesome "normal" woman in the lead. :hi5:

Also just started some Amazon show... Can't recall the name. Based on some book, premise is the 60s in a universe where the Nazis won ww2. Only watched the first episode, not bad. Seems like it will end up being really good or really terrible

Man on Top of the Mountain (or something of the sort)...? We started watching it a few weeks ago and haven't revisited it. I will say the premise, from what I saw before old man nap took over, was actually pretty solid.
