I like how Gibson calls sales/marketing reps "Evangelists".

Fits their authorized dealer requirements perfectly. They require 40% wall space and send in their brownshirts every quarter to stores.

March 9, 2012:
Gibson hires No. 2 to Juszkiewicz

Gibson Guitar has created a new senior executive position and recruited a consumer electronics industry veteran to lead its sales efforts across the globe.

The Nashville-based guitar maker said it has hired Bob Weissburg to be its first global executive vice president. Weissburg comes to the company from D&M Holdings, the parent of a number of consumer electronics brands including Marantz and Boston Acoustics. There, Weissburg was president of sales and marketing for the Americas. Before that, he spent a decade at Sony Electronics.

Weissburg will report directly to Gibson majority owner and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, who has of late made a big push to build his company's consumer electronics businesses. Since December, Gibson has snapped up several businesses making loudspeakers and monitors as well as DJ equipment and home theater systems.

“We’re delighted to have Bob join our company,” Juszkiewicz said. “His experience coupled with his passion makes him a perfect fit for Gibson.”

In an interview with trade pub TWICE, Weissburg said further product line expansion in the consumer electronics arena is an option.

Gibson is about to ruin a few other companies like they did Kramer and Steinberger...

Gibson buys into another consumer electronics firm

Onkyo to take small stake in guitar maker; CEO Juszkiewicz to join Japanese company’s board

Gibson Guitar has struck another deal to bolster its product roster beyond musical instruments, paying $8.9 million for a 51 percent stake in Onkyo USA.

The acquisition of a majority stake in the Americas distribution arm of a Japanese maker of amplifiers, home theater systems and other consumer electronics comes a month after Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz acquired the parent company of three audio products brands. Onkyo USA will become part of the Gibson Pro Audio Division that was created following that acquisition.

Gibson’s deal for Onkyo USA is part of a broader business and capital alliance between the two companies, which will jointly launch and market a consumer audio brand out of Hong Kong. Onkyo will acquire 1 percent of Gibson’s stock as part of the partnership, while Gibson will invest a total of $10.7 million for a 15.5 percent stake in the Japanese company.

Gibson creates pro audio division in wake of acquisition

Guitar maker buys 'market-leading' audio products designers

Gibson Guitar will start a pro audio division after the acquiring of the platform assets of the Stanton Group.

Stanton Group is one of the oldest marketers and designers of audio products, and includes KRK Systems, Cerwin-Vega and Stanton DJ. The Pro Audio division will be headquartered in Nashville.

The closing of this acquisition marks Gibson's further expansion into the pro audio market with loudspeaker, monitor and electronics technology.

"We have an extremely powerful brand that people recognize and value, but the musical instrument category is inherently limited because people who purchase instruments also need to know how to play them," says Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. "This new division is perfectly aligned with our core. It expands our reach to fellow music lovers and allows us access to 20 in 20 consumers instead of the one in 20 we currently hit."

Stanton Group CEO Timothy Dorwart said his company can help Gibson expand its product development work.

"We are very excited to be joining the Gibson family," said Dorwart. "The association with the iconic Gibson brand gives us the opportunity to quickly expand our customer base. Moreover, we bring technical resources that will enhance the R&D capabilities of both companies."

Trawling around the net I saw a "how to prep your vocals for mixing" by him...I remember thinking how he hasnt got a fkn clue on to make vocals sound good, but he talks a good game.

I've never really commented on it...But reading his bio again re Gibson just reminded me how good he sounds on paper, and how shit he sounds in the real world.

WAT THE FUCK?!

This trainwreck pretty much negates ANYTHING he has to say about recording. It's like what would happen if somebody heard one Nine Inch Nails song, then had a multi-track shoved in front of them with a casio keyboard and a microphone and were told to copy it.

I was looking for the words. You found them for me.

On the plus side, I now feel a WHOLE lot better about eventually turning my home recording/reverbnation project into an actual album. :thu:

It's not about good and bad parts for me.

It's entirely about the overall effect a song has, and in this case it's pretty poor to be honest.

That. I mean, you can find something positive to say about anything ~ even Traidsmarked! But music is not as mathematical as some folks would like to make it out to be. Merely tallying up the positives & negatives to determine which column has the most points won't tell you whether a given song (or mix, or whatever) is "good" or "bad." That can only be determined holistically. Taken overall, holistically, that exampled of Anderton's work is pretty, well, bad. Sure you could find some good things in there, if you look hard enough, but that doesn't change the overall impact of the song.

IMO, of course.

Enlighten me here Steve...

You signed up over here when we first made the migration...posted the first day and didn't come back. Then you took it upon yourself to post long-winded rants on [the forum that shall not be named] about how this was a pruning, and that [the forum that shall not be named] would return to its glory, and all the people who stuck around would be looked up to as elders and smart fucks...All the while graciously slurping up any dabbling of cum that escapes Craig's bulging erection...

THEN, a post gets made over here about Craig's impending departure from [the forum that shall not be named], and you mysteriously come out from the woodwork and throw in your .02 cents.

What happened to all of us being off-topic know-nothings? What happened to getting rid of the annoying posters? Because you just came back to the den where those "annoying posters" retreated...Sense, it makes none.

Okay...so you are going to give me a hard time?

Not sure it's really worth getting into, ya know? Maybe this kind of thing can be done on the phone or something? If you PM me....I'll give my number and we can talk. I totally understand my status here is on shaky ground. I'm cool with that. But let me try to be uncharacteristically brief.

1) Someone asked about Chris's amp. So I posted this website to get him to Chris. Made me come here to ask Chris what's up.
2) Someone did call me out, what's my "fear". Made me come over to face my fear? (humor activated)
3) The Anderton was cross posted. I was curious about it.
4) HCAF is dying. I don't want it to. I'm fighting for it's survival...not sure how that is so wrong
5) Remember I was one of the first to encourage an exodus. Check it. I assume no credit Billy would have done this regardless.
6) I was critical. I thought people jumped ship prematurely. It was only my opinion, and really not a big deal.
7) Like an unfaithful marriage, we either give this a shot of redemption and forgiveness or not. What will it be?

Nah, you're welcome to be here man. Everyone here gets a fresh start...It's just you were the one basically making fun of all of us for COMING here...and here you are. We like having people here, and you're included...But you gotta understand when we, as a group, get called out; you should expect to take a lashing for it...You know how this place works...

That said, glad to see you here.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer number 7...I'm not a woman and don't hold grudges...So yes, redemption, forgiveness, and all of that is good. Like I said, part of this boards appeal was everyone gets a fresh start. People who were banned from HCAF are welcome here, people who were jackasses are welcome here. Everyone is welcome. You may take some lashings from time to time, but hell, would this be the den for scum if not?

Hi Chris....did you sell your Trace? There was a guy asking about it and I directed him here to find you.

I guess it's just another fundamental difference. I find that I can learn a LOT about things even from stuff I hate. Of course what not to do. But also what to do. For example I I have worked in the food industry, and it's amazing that even a bad dish has things right about it that you can learn from. I hear some cool techniqes in the Anderton track that I'm not gonna ignore just becuase the "overall experience" sucks. That thinking is for your average listener, not a technician.

Just my opinion of course.

Hi, Steve. Nothing in what I posted is even remotely opposed to the idea of taking and using good elements from a song/recording/performance that is ~ overall ~ unquestionably bad. Indeed, what I said was that although you can *always* find good things (to take and learn from and use) from a bad recording (or dish, or whatever), that fact doesn't keep said recording (or whatever) from being bad. Dig?

And yeah, I sold both the Trace (well, one of them ~ the Speed Twin) and the Koch. Was gonna sell the other Trace (Bonneville combo) but decided to keep it. Thanks for the referral. Of course, now I'm even thinking about selling the Plexi, so the insanity continues. :)
