You may have missed the arrogant rant he directed billy's way during the spiral. And the several years of, "fuck the users, THIS is what we're doing," that transpired before that rant.
People change. Sadly, in Anderton's case, not for the better.
I saw that post. It was arrogant and gave me the impression that he had lost the plot.
It was one of the reasons I decided to stop posting at HC and create an account here.
It wasn't exactly a smart thing for him to say.

That's true, but think about the possibilities for the future... just imagine it:
GIBSON ANNOUNCE VINTAGE AMPS REISSUE
New for 2015, Gibson CEO Ronald McDonald and chief high priest Craig Anderton announce a range of vintage Gibson amp reissues. All tube designs, the reissues bring classic rock and blues crunch into the 21st century with the inclusion of master volume, digital reverb and the all new, patent pending "Gibson Multi-Band Distortion (tm)" technology. For too long valve amps have had only one control for distortion. Now you can tailor your overdrive to fit the mix with up to four independent distortion bands, each with fine controls for overdrive, distortion or UltraFuzz(tm), for those classic tones.
Gotta give credit where credit is due Orlando, Neil posted that link to the fb group.
This does make me wonder though. Are Gibsons and other products so expensive bc they pay fucktards like anderton tons of money to waste time and write bullshit content? Sounds like his position is a complete waste of money and is a glorified ego wank fest
there is no way one guy is responsible for that shit fest over there , I know if the walls were falling down around me I'd bail too. either way I'm home here , feet up

The funny thing is, he write books on recording, and when I hear his mixes it sounds like something an out of touch dad does week 20 on his roland multitrack:
So just like he's cringeworthy at writing/producing music...He as the head HC community organizer could not compute that the revamp was a fkn disaster and almost a parody of what a message board should not be. Just like he sat back and thought "thats awesome!" to his music...he obviously did the same with the revamp.
He just doesn't get it.

TGP syndrome.
All of the money to explore and expand on something like that, but nothing to back it up.

This shit means NOTHING to the executives. I've worked at some complete fuckup companies that eventually led themselves into the toilet, some of them literally failing out completely. Everybody below VP was FUCKED from the time the realization began to dawn on them, the VPs on up were somehow all moved to other divisions, other companies tied loosely with the company, or buddy-systemed into even better positions in other companies.
The higher ups are ALWAYS happy, or at least paint the happy face on good enough to keep rolling in it while shitting on everyone below them.
That's generally true, but what I've heard about Gibson over the years I worked in the MI industry is that the closest you work to the CEO the more you suffer. Henry seems to be a micro-manager and a tyrant of the highest caliber.

This trainwreck pretty much negates ANYTHING he has to say about recording. It's like what would happen if somebody heard one Nine Inch Nails song, then had a multi-track shoved in front of them with a casio keyboard and a microphone and were told to copy it.
Seriously? I mean the song pretty much sucks IMO but as a recording I think it sounds fine

LMAO. I've sat through a lot of shit recordings people have posted over the years but I had to shut that off as he soon as he started singing.
Devin wrote:Seriously? I mean the song pretty much sucks IMO but as a recording I think it sounds fine
Apparently we have EXTREMELY different definitions of fine. Those drums are utterly horrendous to my ears, and the rest of it isn't much better.
I guess we do. It's that shitty industrial type drum sound, which I don't care for but it sounds like what I'd expect to hear when listening to something like that.
The vocals are too loud, I'll give you that, but to say that it's a trainwreck and that it implies the dude knows nothing about recording is pretty weak

If you think that recording sounds fine then it's safe to say you don't have a future in sound engineering.
