You anted up a narcissistic boil and a conniving witch. Thanks America. Signed, the world.
Re: saddest songs you know?
This is instrumental. Not really a typical sad sounding song but it gives me a weird, sad, sentimental feeling, like looking back on old memories and knowing you can't relive them.

Re: saddest songs you know?
Long and drawn out (in a good way IMO) and few lyrics, but this one has fairly sad, trippy feelz and I just use any excuse to post this band

Shit....a lot of Mark Lanegan gets me.
But I'll say "Borracho" hits me the hardest because it's a song of guilt and remorse (

The song itself doesn't sound uber sad, but the lyrics are a bit of a bummer

PtL takes me straight back to college.
And I know what you mean. I have entire albums that i adore I still don't listen too because even over a decade later the emotions they evoke are just too powerful. Its bizarre, I'm pretty much totally happy in my life yet certain albums just trigger shit for me so I avoid them.
God, that PtL song is so good.

Smells and tunes evoke emotions like a time machine. If I smell aqua net hair spray I am in 1995, listening to Tool - Aenima (not knowing fuck all about music), and playing final fantasy 7.

I was listening to the college radio station on the way home from a long Saturday at work and that came on and I literally had to pull over and stop to listen to it. Nearing twenty years ago now, but I still remember it just hitting me like a ton of bricks. It still gets me. And yes, it's the poem, but the music fits so well with it, meloncholy and stirring at all the right moments in all the right ways. So much intensity.
If that one got you, this one will kill ya

"Jack The Lion" by Harvey Danger. It's about visiting his dying grandfather. It's actually superbly written, makes several literary points, but BLEAK.

Gets me every time.....
" It is credited to Queen, but written mainly by Brian May. The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life; he was dying from complications due to AIDS, although his illness had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill.[1] Mercury was so ill, and could barely walk, when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it.[2] Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "he went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal". "
