Post by draelyc »

... it would be. :idk:

Finally got someone who said he was interested in buying my Trace Elliot Bonneville combo ... but he asked me to send him the highest gain clip I had of the amp.  Not really my style, but here's what I came up with (cue laugh track!):

Trace Elliot Bonneville combo "high gain"

EDIT:

Same clip, different host, for those who can't get to Soundclick. :thu:

Sounds cool :) buuuuut I have a feeling this guy won't be buying your amp - he's getting you to jump through hoops, if he was serious he'd have bought it already.

Probably anyway, hope I'm wrong!

Great crunch man!
Awesome playing too.
I feel like you'd need a boost to push that into high-gain territory though no?

I completely agree with both of you, actually. After dude asked if there had been any issues with the amp and I told him I did have it repaired a few years ago, and he didn't respond, I figured I just wasn't gonna hear back at all. But I did promise to send him the clip, so... :idk:

And yes, with a boost, I think actual metal tones are NO problem for this amp, but without one, it's definitely more of a rock machine.

Totally sounds like Drae trying to be metal! It just ain't in your soul and that's OK. Seriously, though, that's a really cool amp. Not surprised it is hard to sell, though, since it is pretty uncommon.

Lol, that bad, huh?

Yeah, and it also doesn't help that this line did have some reliability issues & that I did have to have mine repaired. I won't br undone if I end up having to keep it. I've just had it so long now that I really want to try something new.

Btw & fwiw, this is more typically how I would run this amp:

Well I really am using that riff in a song, fwiw. Not saying it's gonna be a *good* song, mind, just that I do dig the riff. Now, I would actually use pedals to boost my dirty amps into the proper level of mayhem for the actual recording of said song, rather than try to make a rock amp pretend to do metal unassisted, but that's just because I'm such a compassionate motherfucker, y'know?

So ... hmmm... Should I maybe think about keeping this amp & running it with the Marshall? Plexi for low-mid gain & Bonneville for teh rawk? :idk:

Thanks!!!

Well, it is a 1x12 open backed combo with a V30, so ... :idk: But you're right about sitting in a mix.

If I could get the fx loop to play nice with my pedals, I wouldn't be interested in selling.

Hey, Ralphie! Yes, the surgery was successful -- I'm recovering now (another two weeks off from work). Thanks for asking, mang!

Haven't tried the Morley 'cuz I was planning to sell the amp, but if I keep it, I definitely will. Thanks for the link .. I had thought it was an impedence corrector, like me Ebtech Line Shifter, but this thing works on voltage? Might just do the trick!!

'Kay, I finally tracked down one of those Morleys. Damn thing's made in the USA, but the first, I dunno, five dozen hits when I searched were all for European Union sellers. Finally found a place right here in SC. Geez Louise, I must suck at teh innarwebz. :freak:

We'll see if this makes the Bonneville's loop usable. If so, I may just hold onto it. :)
