I'm using fuzz-stortion right now. Meaning, something that isn't ultra tight, but isn't flubby or loose.

My F-50 seemed to sound like a cross between the Mark and Recto series. Great value for dollar purchase.

If we downtuned, I probably would use the matamp.

It's funny......at this point people have given Matamps legendary status.
They are great, but I think people just assume they would work for everything and sound beyond godly.
People hear with their eyes.....just because it looks awesome, it sounds awesome.
AND, without a doubt, if I used that amp live............I promise you I'd get "great tone" comments just because of it's looks.

Agreed. I've played a few GT120s and GT1s and they are good but I wanted more and the mid voicing makes them sound quiet when compared to something like a laney.

Yep.

I've had good luck using it for recording (at home and the studio).....both guitar and bass.

It's a wonderful amp, no doubt.....just not what my current band needs.

I'm just giving you shit. I thought from your clips that thing was way overly fuzzy, especially if you're looking for a cleanish amp.

The heartbreaker is very nice. For the price they go for used they're incredible. I've seen the 2x12 combo for $700, which is almost criminal.

The Sleep clip was kinda shitty/fizzy/fuzzy (Barber Trifecta). The Black Sabbath clip turned out pretty good (amp only).....pretty evil and dark sounding.
Both were just cranked up with a mic in front....single tracks. no layering.

sleep - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8708319

sabbath - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8698536

It got it use, and if it were the only amp I had, I'd use it.
On top of that, the other guitar player has a fuzzed out fat tone anyway, so I need to go for something with a little clarity and punch.

I'm waiting for a Heartbreaker head to pop up at the right price...........
Although, I was looking at the Randall MTS too.........but that's probably a bad idea for a myriad of reasons.
