Shit if I was Deniro I'd probably do the same. Sit back and collect that paper

Re: divergent, I dunno I just couldn't tolerate it. I found the main girls character to be insufferabley obnoxious, and I also didn't realize it was a teens save the world movie before starting it, so that probably didn't help either  At least Noah amused me with its awfulness lol

Ah, yeah. I've been conditioned on the teens save the world tripe since my wife must see all of them. I sorta learn to lower the bar going into them. You wanna really be disappointed? City of Bones. These movies all follow the same plot. Teen girl is a self-centered bitch until she realizes the world isn't what it seems and then suddenly she becomes the most studious and amazingly important person of all time and the only one that can lead the rebellion/rescue mission/group of super-special-secret-sauce-bearing-people and then she becomes the ultimate hero. But City of Bones manages to really ramp up the intense dislike by including prototype mom in the mix. Seriously, Cersie, Sarah Connor, this bitch, and I think I've seen her play the same role in two or three other B level movies. The theatrical version of that movie was annoying, but tolerable. They butchered the DVD release so badly it's like watching something edited by a teenager that's methed out of their mind.

Wife loves it.

Watching Divergent. Can already tell if I was a 12 year old girl this would probably be awesome. Can already tell I'm going to hate it cause its terrible.

nightflameauto wrote:Wow. I saw Divergent in the theater and didn't think it was that horrible. I mean, at least it remained self-consistent. Just another teens saving the world from adults movie really. And while there are way too damn many of them, and my wife wants to see them all, this was one of the least offensive of the bunch.

And any straight man that claims he didn't enjoy watching her climb the tower is either lying or scared of getting the pedo-police on their ass.

I'm sorry dude, this movie straight up sucked. It wasn't 0/10...but...maybe a 4/10? I can see why preteen girls might like it, but the entire premise is fucked and inconsistent and most of the movie was boring as hell.

Now they're shooting people for some reason but I am so bored no fucks are given. Pretty much hoping the main character pulls a Cobain at this point.

Sadly, my wife works with kids so she feels the need to watch these crap fests to talk relate to the kids. I am sad for kids now. No wonder they're all depressed and shit if this is the crap they're given to read/watch.

Fuck that. There's thousands of years of good stuff out there to read and decades of good stuff to watch. If they're too stupid to find it they deserve to suffer.

I don't disagree, but its also tough to be the kid not reading/watching this tripe. I would think?

I dunno, I never was into what was cool either I'm probably not the best one to gauge it.

This is beyond awful. And it goes on for 2:20......there's seriously like 90 minutes of bad plot here. Why drag it on and on and on?

I think Katniss is in the other one. which sucked, but not as badly cause JL is hotter than this chick. It was equally stupid though.

Why in these dystopian futures do people spend so much effort creating complex social structures that defy all logic and reason? Cause it seems intellectual to a 12 year old and also to adults that don't pay much attention?

Yeah, my reaction to Divergent getting slagged was about it being compared NEGATIVELY to Noah. No. Noah was worse. Still doesn't mean I think it was a good movie. Just less offensive than some of the others I've seen.

Have I mentioned my wife had me sit through the entirety of the Twilight Saga? Twice? Now that I'm not pouring alcohol down my throat at a prodigious rate, I doubt I'd be able to do that again. Good fuck those movies are terrible.

Oh, no, Noah was far worse, spawnofthesith got some bad ganja to think it wasn't. Yeah, I suffered through some of the first one, then I looked at my wife and said "There is no way in hell I'm going to be able to keep my mouth shut any longer" and left the room to go read.

Oh, there were fights. I spent the first three movies mouthing off about every thirty seconds the first time through. Until she couldn't take me mouthing off. Then we had to shut it off and fight it out for a bit.

The scene where my mind went *BOGGLE* so hard I couldn't talk anymore was where they were hiding up in the mountains, sparkle boy was too cold to warm up his girl so he had wolfy holding her to warm her up. The premise was dumb enough, then the dialog that made me realize this whole thing was cooked up my somebody that hadn't ever quite drug themselves out of the mindset girls have when they're about ten years old about "love."

Shades of Grey is gonna be worse. When she was listening to that book while using the treadmill I told her this sounds like taking the premise of Twilight and cranking it to 12. Then I find out the author is a HUGE Twilight fan and was trying to pay tribute to what great literature it was. It's gonna be a rough ride.

My wife would occasionally read parts of the SoG books out loud to me. Holy crap, what atrocious writing, even for erotica. It was hilarious.

When they first came out I remember a lot of drama on some author's boards because I guess they were essentially stolen from someone else? I can't remember nor be bothered to care cause its awful.

But you've summed up Twilight and why it resonated so well with young girls. Women, I have no clue though. WTF.

I would kill for a theater that serves anything outside of popcorn and hotdogs. Oh, you can get a slushie too if you want. Nobody's thought to do the decent food and drink at a theater deal around here yet, except for the fancy-pants indie movie showing place that serves hard liquor. No food there though.

It's a not a chain (well I guess technically it is since there are two locations, but you know what I mean) called Chunky's.

Nice! Seriously, whenever I have a free afternoon (almost never) I head to Cinebarre and just watch pretty much anything while getting drunk and eating wood fired pizza. :thu:

Guardians of the Galaxy- Awesome/Awesome

Could I nitpick? Sure, but who cares this movie is a complete blast. By far the lightest and funniest of the Marvel movies so far it has tons of action, some great lines, pretty good acting (for what was required) and a plot that was pretty straightforward.

Loved it. Laughed hysterically over and over. Fun times. Will be seeing it again.

The preview for Deep Hero 6 looked like it'll be pretty fun too.
