So, I needed another one of these cheap bastards, but with the capability of swiveling for end capsule mics like a 57.
My first plan was to drill a hold in the side the PVC and tighten it to the boom's threads with a nut. I didn't have one of the nuts here so I phoned around locally. No hardware/fitting/pipe/industrial store within 30 miles has a 5/8":27-threads-inch nut, which is what all mic booms and clips are. And I'm not one to walk into a music store and do the five-finger-discount thing.
Then I thought why not just modify a standard mic clip (got plenty of them) and find a way to attach it to the side of the PVC? Out comes the Dremel with a cutting wheel to take off the sides, drill a few holes, twist a little wire, and vuala...
And since I already blew $2 on the pack of mini bungees for the first shock, this one is technically free...

Finished up both of them. I ended up doing the mic clip thing to the first shockmount that holds the e609; just made it more secure. I also swapped out the long goosenecks in both iso-cabs for 6" goosenecks since they hold their position better in cramped quarters.
Disappoint the goosenecks haven't been replaced by home-made PVC contraptions.
Honestly though, this is cool thinking. Real shockmounts, if they don't come with the mic, are ridiculous expensive for a bunch of rubber bands mounted on metal or plastic rings.
Just a 18"x18"x30" box (inlcuding the 6" lid) from 1/2" plywood, speaker mounted halfway, lined with 2" camping bed foam. Used a 2"x2" in each corner to screw & glue the plywood with standard 1-1/4" sheetrock screws. They won't win any beauty contests, but they are solid and functional. I can snap a few pics later tonight. A buddy wanted me to do a little vid this weekend to show the amount of room attenuation that actually happens; he wants to borrow them for a project. Might post the vid here if I can figure out youtube.

Sound quality has been excellent. Got a MojoTone BV-25M mic'd with a 57 in one cab, and a BV-30H mic'd with a 609 in the other. Blending the two signals together at mixdown has proven to be delish...
