Ive got parts for one more Harley but it will be awhile before I put that together. Im at a crossroads with how I want to finish it; Its a plain smap ash body. Itll be standard trem, HSS maple fathead reverse 22 fret like the others but I cant decide how I want to finish it. Here is what Ive been mulling around..
1) 2-3 color swirl 2) Faux Marble 3) Vinyl wrap and clearcoat 4) spray alternating layers of black and purple( Like Black/purple/black/purple/black ) and then going medieval on it with the relicing and a blowtorch so that you can see all the layers...
Another thing that Ive wanted to build is a Mutt Super tele but Im going to have to think about that one for awhile...

Ive always liked the color scheme on the Hendrix Monterey strat. A fiesta red, arctic white, & teal swirl could be ineresting Mainly red & white, with a small amout of teal . That dude that was on the HCAF did some beautiful swirl jobs on those Ibbys he used to post up.

I did some research into the whole DIY swirl process and personally, Im leaning towards black and white or maybe black and purple; keeping it simple with 2 starkly contrasting colors... could never do teal though, that reminds me of sea foam green and I HATE that with a passion...
Hey Kage thank you very much, when my son asks why I don't have any money saved for his college, I will give him your number
Bro, the first thing that I did when my son was born was set aside all the college money that he'll ever need. Hes almost 7 now and by the time hes ready for college, therell be enough for 4 degrees from Harvard if he wants it...
BTW, All of these guitars were built from junk bodies, necks and hardware that I had lying around and had forgotten about for a couple of years. There isnt a guitar up there that cost more than 300 bucks, maybe 350... If you look around, you can find some ridiculously cheap parts and your biggest expense are the pickups and even then, you find them used on Ebay for next to nothing...
The whole impetus behind these guitars was to build nice players out of junk( good, cheap parts)...
yeah I was just joking around about the kid's college stuff lol I am a big fan of a partscaster myself, I am actually one body away from building my perfect strat, already have all the other parts
I'd do up a burnt / distressed Confederate flag Strat (Fuck yall, Im from the South ha ha), but it's been done to death.
Another theme I thought of, was Muscle Cars. I saw a Charvel that was pianted Sublime green & had a Dodge Superbee logo on it. I thought about doing one in hugger orange, with a 69-70 GTO "The Judge" logo on it. (I used to be into Muscle Cars, before they became a rich mans collector game)

I would be down for this. I've been considering a build for some time now.
yeah. Some guys here who always have cool rigs & creative ideas.
Theres a project strat on ebay Id like to snag. Looks like a '67 RI (big head, but has a weird logo) Looks like its routed for a Kahler. Ive got an 80's Kahler Flyer bridge I'd like to put on a super strat project. Always see floyds on em.
