Where do you buy strings?

Post by Chops Malone »

I used to go to Guitar Center, but now I buy them online.

I've bought from both of these places:

10-52s FTW!

You are lucky, where I live we don't have many smaller music stores...

Guitar Center pulled a WalMart and wiped them all out.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check those out. Longer lasting strings would be great!

I always forget about BestBuy, but I agree that supporting the local mom and pop stores is what we all need to do to help them survive.

Elderlys is cool! You're lucky - I wish they were local for me.

I hear ya about the big box stores - fuck em all! They are wiping out all of the cool little stores.

Cool idea and it's probably cheaper too. If I could stick to one brand/gauge of strings I would do something like that.

That is what I do too, but with so many guitars, I have to keep like 4 different gauges and usually at least 50 to 75 packs of strings. I have always had really good luck with Musicians Friend and I have gotten some really nice guitars there....

I was always satisfied with Musicians Friend. I can't think of a slight grievance that wasnt resolved effectively. I used to read less than good things about them over HC... Then again, thats HC...

GC. I go in there, drag in my Les Paul, play through six of their amps and fifteen of their pedals, then placate the salesman by buying a few packs of Ernie Ball 10-52s ("Skinny Top Heavy Bottom").
