I am just getting into home recording and i need a pair of monitors...
My room is a size of a typical master bedroom. I am assuming anything bigger than 5inch would be an overkill... The monitors will be on my desk with the wall behind them.
I need some feedback about good quality monitors that get job done at low cost.... I looking for something i can get at 300 dollars for the pair.
I am buying used.
Mostly mixing 4-5piece band music

Equator D5 seems to be all the rage in that price bracket. $399 for the pair.
Also don't skimp on room treatment, especially bass traps. Treating the corners with traps will make a huge difference in clarity.

What nakedzen said, plus add Yamaha HS-50M monitors to that list. They have made hearing things so much easier.

Re: Bang for the buck monitoring setup
Love the homemade diffusers. I made mine from 2x4s, insulation, and grey material for probably around $25. No need to spend tons on Auralex although they are nice and stylish the homemade bass traps and diffusers work just as well. Another easy way it to go to UHaul and buy some of their moving blankets. They are really thick and big and are easy to hang. As far as budget monitors I would go with some 5's by M-Audio. That's probably going to get you the best bang for your buck. If your looking for just a small home studio these work well. Some will disagree but I've used them and never had a problem. I know ppl who have and had problems BUT these ppl often had them cranked up so loud they distorted and then wanted to argue with me saying they are crap. Just my opinion but best of luck and post some pics

I have Rokit 5's. I'm no pro so I don't know how good they are, but people like them.
