Soon this will be A/B'd with a Quickrod. Probably going to go full ruhtard and order 2 more 2x12's or 2 4x12's and have teh full epicness! I saw a dude on the Splawn facebook that had a 4x12 with a 2x12 on top and it looked REALLY good.

I've got a Mark III and i've been gasing for a dual rectifier for some time now.

I've got a Mark III and i've been gasing for a dual rectifier for some time now.

I'm horrible at describing amp tones but here goes...
The Mark is a more aggressive and less forgiving. Cuts through the mix better IMO. I play it live because it meshes perfectly with my other guitar players JVM.

The Dual Rec is more fun to play, has more sizzle and sounds amazing at dropped tunings.

I prefer the Mark for what my band does(thrash). If I were playing death metal it would be the Rec.

Great job describing the difference between the two. Having owned both Marks and Rectos, I'd also add that Rectos have an enormous footprint in the mix - they can make a one-guitar band sound huge. Marks can make space for themselves in a two-guitar mix more easily without stepping on everything else, I think.

Obviously those aren't absolutes - either amp can work in either context and sound great - but it's a definite difference in character between the two.

I would say that they both have that "mesa tone" , but sound way different. I agree that the Mark would lend itself to thrash better, and the the Recto to death metal even though it has less gain.

Mark III Red stripe, Focused, tight, super high gain, clear, smooth, but more aggressive than a Mark IV.

2 chan Recto, open, most agressive, massive, med high gain, huge sonic spread, loud

I've got this with a matching Recto 2x12. Sadly, I never use it. We just don't agree with each other.

Sad to hear that, your settings seem reasonable, I would use the pull fat, but other than that it looks all good. What you no like?

My Soldano SLO and Fryette Sig:X work better for me. They fit the way I play and match that "sound in my head" we all chase.
I tweeked and tweeked and tried EVERY setting I found for the IV. I found a lot of good tones, just not a GREAT one that worked for me. :(
Still breaks my heart. Someday I'll man-up and move it. i just hate to admit to defeat! :lol:
