Right on, mang ~ you do not ef with pain management, especially *nerve* pain management! Mojo to you in your recovery, as well. That sciatic is a killer, an absolute killer...

'S cool, bro. I posted a thread in the "Life" forum, but I didn't make too big a deal ~ partly because I was already a little freaked, never having had surgery before & didn't want to work myself up too much more, gnome sane?
But I'm recovering now, and the nerve pain that was crippling me *seems* to be gone, so  !
And just as a reminder, my Koch can be ALL YOURS, if the price is right (and if you pay the shipping! ), lol!

Have you ever done yoga or a simple stretching regimen? I know several people who have had tremendous luck by doing some nerve release stretches in the lower back along with a piriformis stretch.

No to both, but will definitely check out the idea. The surgery did help some, but I'm a long way from full recovery. Still dealing with considerable numbness and pain in my left foot. My primary objective right now is to get off the Vicodin and other meds that I've been on for 12-1/2 months.

Haven't done Yoga ~ yet! ~ but there are several such items on the "lifestyle changes" agenda for after recovery. I'mma impliment some kind of disciplined regimen for the rest of my life, after this, to help ensure I don't end up in this situation again, not if I can at all help it!
Would love to get into Yoga, actually. And I'd dearly love ~ a long ways down the road from today, certainly ~ to get back to the martial arts I practiced for a decade, going back to Jr. High/ High School, but which I (sadly) got out of after college. Man, I coulda been in much better shape today...

Thanks for the tip!
...and sorry to hijack, Draelyc
No problem, mang, and extra Mojo sent, now that I know the extent of your troubles! Counting my blessings, brutha. So far today (knock on wood), the only real pain I've been dealing with seems to be coming from the surgery itself; my nerve pain and tingling seems to have abated right away. Here's hoping it stays that way as I work on walking, tomorrow. But so far I'm looking at a much faster recovery. That said, having been through this, I can much more easily imagine where you must be, and damn... So, yeah, Mojo.

Mojo man. Glad the surgery went well. My wife has 7 herniated discs from a workplace injury. The docs were never able to get a surgical solution for her...It still amazes me medicine has such difficulty fixing something they can see and touch.

I'm back on my feet, though not lifting anything, not bending over, not twisting sideways, and not holding anything over 10-15 lbs. for at least two weeks; then a check up with the surgeon & we'll see from there. But the nerve pain is gawn!
