Seymour Duncan Double Cream Pickups

Post by ZEEGLER »

Okay, so I need to get a Custom/59 set in double cream, and I've heard that you can order from the custom shop and get double cream, as long as you order them with covers. Has anyone here done this, or knows if it's true? If so, do SD charge a lot more for custom pickups? I just want to know what I'm getting into here.

They do charge more for Custom Shop orders.

Why don't you save some cash and go this route instead? http://www.universaljems.com/cart/bobbin.htm

If I am not mistaken, SD no longer offers the double cream under a cover thing. From what I heard (not sure if it is true or not), DiMarzio got really bent out of shape about enforcing their patent on the double cream bobbins after they lost Yngwie to Seymour Duncan, therefore you can no longer order them that way.

That's prior to Malmsteen jumping ship. I love DiMarzio products, but damn, suing for using the same color???

From what I heard, DiMarzio didn't pursue any judgment against Duncan for the roundabout method of obtaining double creams and then they went all WTFBBQ after Yngwie Humperdick switched. I wanted to get a double cream Duncan Custom Custom/'59 set for my Charvel, but couldn't find a dealer who would make the order.

Larry Dimarzio is a total dickbag for the whole thing. How the fuck does it even make sense to trademark a color? Anyway, I have emailed Seymour Duncan, so we'll see what they say. Either way, Dimarzio will never get my business.

GRRRR I am so angry!!!!!  ANGRY!!! FUCK SHIT :phair: :loon:
