An embarrassing video from my past.

Post by _ej_ »

Seizure warning. This is a "music video" that my old band did. We were a horrible bro rock band. Drummer kicked ass though.

God I do not miss that band.

Thanks dude! We were very solid musically, the bassist and drummer were both a cut above me talent wise. Singer is another story.

Yeah, the decision was made to add a "live" version on to our album. It was the same gat damn song but with those canned crowd sound clips added in. I facepalmed so hard. So many things about that album pissed me off.

at what point did the three of you look at eachother and say wow our singer cant sing for shit but we're writing really good music.

I have to say your tone is really really good.

This is a better band than the hip hop group I was in in 1997/98

We had one song that I played my old fretless bass over top a roland TR-808 drum beat with terrible porno clips all throughout it.

I'm glad there's no video.

Never sadly. The bassist and singer had been playing together for years, Ron was the 3rd drummer and I was the 4th guitarist. For some reason Joe (the bassist) thought Mike (the singer) had something special. Mike just did not understand what was cool. Like at all. Everything he thought was awesome was awful.

Joe also lacked an understanding of cool, but he was/is gaddam TALENTED. Better guitarist than me, better drummer than Ron, and a way better singer that Mike. We should have just transitioned to a 3 piece.

And thanks dude! That whole album is a 3 channel Recto in a Carvin 212 loaded with v30s.

Recto sounds super fat. Boosted or no?

Despite that singers terribleness, everything sounded on par or better than 90% of what gets played on the local hard rock station

I liked it! The singer was OK (even though he looked like Ron Halford) and the song was OK too.
Can't see any reason for being embarrassed in the least. The style is a bit dated but, it sounds good enough! :thu:

That was awesome.

Production quality actually ain't half bad (both video and the song mix) for being low-budget (I assume)! Actually the instrumental aspects of the song aren't bad at all, just sucks that the singer is such a bro.

I recognize where you filmed that. The old Star Trax in Fairfield, NJ! I use to rehearse there.
Should have left the curtain open behind the drummer so we could have seen the the giant "Frazetta" painting on the wall! :D

I might still have the rough track burned to a disk somewhere... I will try and find it.
