Anyone else have experience with them? 2 guitarists who are I N SA N E gearheads swear by them after spending $1000's on different cables in a testing frenzy in their studio.
I'm about 80% happy with my recordings but I still think they are a little dark and some of the nuances of my playing are not jumping out.
I came to the conclusion that it is probably my pickups and cables so I'm looking forward to testing that theory. I got a (relatively!) great price on some used on ebay which happen to be the exact lengths I am looking at: One to drop to the floor from my amp into a boost, and an extra shorter cable if I want to add a second pedal and one that goes to the guitar. I'll only be using them for recording...For regular jamming etc I'll stick to my fender platinum/canare.
The next step will be changing the stock pup from my studio LP to a bare knuckle and re-tubing my guitar with SED power tubes and mix and matching pre's at a friends house who has pretty much every tube out there. That along with fresh cobalt strings should do the trick!
I was starting to gas for a Quickrod but I thought to hell with it. I'll just give my JCM800 a makeover.
I never, ever gave a shit about cables. As long as they are not cutting out the sound or adding too much noise (which would mean they're broken) I can use just about anything.
I normally buy bulk cable and plugs and make my own cables though. I can make them on any custom length I need and it's usually cheaper to go that route.
Also, I've heard your demos and not once I thought "well it's ok but he needs better cables" LOL I think you're over-analyzing this.

This to the max...There is a magic number (18.6ft) I believe where cable degredation starts to happen...and even then, I don't know a single person who could notice...
Cables are pretty simple things man...Strand of copper wire carrying your signal through a shielded enclosure, and bare wire grounded to the plug...It's really hard for a cable company to improve on that...because it's the most basic shit ever.

The thing is though, you hear one riff when I am actually playing something else. Some squeltchy faster notes meld into one longer note because it's a little blankety esp with the drums etc all competing.
It still may sound good, but it's blurred. For instance:
Listen @ 30 seconds and you hear da da dadada da da dadada when the guits are playing with the gong. When the drums come in, it often sounds like daaa dadada daaa dadada.
Little things like that that I think studio quality shite may help me out on.

I can hear a difference between my monster rock cable and my fender platinum which are the same length.
Just read up on the cables - http://www.evidenceaudio.com - the 'Design Philosophy' link at the top of the page is a very good read about cables.
It kinda skims over the 'directional' aspect of the cables, but it makes sense to only have the shielding connected on one end to keep it eliminating noise, and not being a conduit for additional noise.

It's something that I ran into again at NAMM. I went to the vovox booth and they had an orange amp with a monster cable. So I played that for a few mins, swapped them out with the vovox and there WAS more clarity. The monster actually sounded heavier but it was just the bass freq that was coming though and something was choking the top end.
I had some cheapie cables for a long time that added a lot of noise. Got some quality planetwaves custom series cables, and since they have lifetime warranties, thats all Ive been using since lol. Ill never have to buy cables again. This sounds like snake oil to me.
Haha...fuck that. I picked them up used and the 3 averaged $27 each and they look mint. I can probably sell my monsters for the same price. They have Neutrik jacks.

My PW cables were 15 a piece when I bought them lol. Ive replaced my 2 longer ones once each. Ive had them for 10 years, replaced them while I was playing shows because my bass player dropped something on them and damaged them. I dont ever plan to buy cables again, especially not retardedly overpriced ones lol.
27 used, I guess is pretty good for those, but I wouldnt say thats a good deal in general for a cable, especailly ones so short.
But, more power to ya!! I hope they work out for you.

I had a bad experience with PW but they were the ones with the mute buttons. I a/b'd them with canare and the canare sounded more clear. I also had an issue with planet waves tuner...When you switched it on, it sounded like a dial up modem. It's one of those companies where the online respect didnt match up with my experience.

Word. Yeah, those killswitch cables had some issues. A friend of mine used those for a little while. Their custom series is fantastic, though. Ive never used anything else from them, and I bought their cables when they first popped up on the scene, so they were really high quality, lifetime warranty cables for a really good price. 20 bucks for 20 ft, 15 bucks for 15 ft.
Cables do make a difference. BUT... not nearly the difference per dollar that other things do.
I have a $135 10' Vovox cable, a 20' Monster 1000 series, a 20' Carver Silver, (both the 20 footers retail somewhere around $200 IIRC) and a $90 10' Analysis Plus Black Oval cable.
All sound better than a cheap cable, but not appreciably better than my $35 ProCo/Planet Waves level stuff.

That's pretty much what I've always thought would be the case if I actually tried some mega expensive cables. Maybe it would sound better, but enough to justify the price jump, prolly not. That said, cheap cables suck arse, and I really hates 'em.

yarp. I'm about 80% happy with what I have. So I was thinking what could make that difference...I decided I am going to do a lot of subtle things to make it up. After witnessing the tightness some cables vs others, plus the clarity of a bareknuckle nailbomb in a LP in NAMM I figured it would be all worth it.
Testing may be a pain because I may strum harder/softer after swapping. I'll put everything on 5 and try and keep my playing even between swapping. I'll make them shortish so I can upload waves.
You're swapping cables and pickups at the same time? Or you gonna demo the cable differences before the pickup swap? I'd be curious to hear the differences man. I just don't think they're as noticable as some make them out to be...Less noise? Sure I'll buy that. Shaping tone? Hard for me to get on board with that logic. But I'll gladly eat crow if I must

There are cables that genuinely will make your tone sound brighter...but that's nothing changing our volume/tone control pots couldn't do.
A lot of players with monster tone seem to actually prefer longer cables for the slight treble roll-off (I've heard Joe Bonamassa mention this, and apparently Jimi liked curly cables for the same reason).
