1) Firehouse, 2013 - They still have amazing energy, haven't lost anything off their sound.
2) Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Night Castle Tour 2009 - Awesome music, the show was the coolest experience ever, got them all to sign a cd afterwards
3) Motley Crue & Poison, 2011 - Poison outplayed Motley, but Motley had a far superior stage show, both were well liked.

And I think that's all he ones I've been to unless I'm forgetting something. :hmm:

Tool. Several times. Been back stage. Have met Adam, Maynard, and Justin. Haven't met Danny. Still, be jealous. Very.

Non-Tool fans suck it!!!!

^That was a good show, but doesn't make my top list. You are correct, Poison WAY outplayed Crue.

1) Anthrax - 1994, Riviera Theatre Chicago, IL
2) Pantera - 1994, Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL
3) Blink-182/Green Day - 2002, World Music Theatre, Tinley Park, IL
4) Poison - 1988, Holiday Star Theatre, Merrillville, IN
5) Green Day - 19??, Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL
6) Cake & Deke Dickerson - 1999, Riviera Theatre, Chicago, IL

There's more, but these shows ALWAYS stick out in my mind.

Kiss: Animalize tour, 1985. Great show but I was expecting Mark St. John and got Kulick. :(
Dokken: Tooth and Nail tour, 1985
Blue Murder, 1989
Yngwie: Trilogy tour, maybe 1986 or 87? Pleasantly surprised to see Jeff Scott Soto, expecting Mark Boals.
Metal Church: The Dark tour, maybe 1986 or 87? The album sounded dull and lifeless but when played live the guitar tones were massive. Plus they had a new guitar player and they (the other band members) were pretty much hazing him, trying to knock him over, laughing at him throughout the set, etc. The vocalist had his shirt open featuring a fat gut proudly hanging over his belt. Moast fun show evar.

But I have seen quite a few epic shows. Ozzy with Randy, Rudy and Tommy still trumps them all :rawk:

Suffocation and Crowbar around 95.

Saw that tour too :rawk: but since I was limited I had to pick the Black N Blue tour. Good to see some love for BOC here :hi5:

One of my most memorable was seeing Wynton Marsalis at the Paramount with my grandfather. Besides that they all just kind of blend together. The first time Graveyard came through and nobody knew who they were... Epic.

Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings was jaw droppingly good. Eric Johnson doing the Alien Love Child thing at Antones with the stripped down rig I mentioned in the unpotted pickups thread is another one.

First time I saw Nine Inch Nails on the With Teeth tour was also awesome.

Also, Beastie Boys tour when To The 5 Borrows came out. That show was fucking incredible. 4 sets, two of them with instruments. Them randomly showing up in the upper mezzanine... By far the best hip hop show I have ever been to. I could never narrow it down to just 5.

Muse - 2nd Law and Resistance tours both great shows
Roger Waters - The Wall - probably one of the best shows I've ever been to
Prince - Musicology Tour 2004 - laugh all you want, but Prince is a great performer and pretty underrated guitarist and bass player, he played a lot of his popular 80's hits.
The Specials - Oh You Bastards Tour '96 - after listening to them in the 80's as a kid, seeing them live was such an amazing experience. A lot of energy in both the crowd and band.
English Beat - I think it was around '97 or '98, they came and played some really small hole in the wall bar and there was hardly anyone there. Seeing another 2 tone classic ska band in such a small club was pretty cool.

I will speak for the collective in saying, don't ever, and I mean ever apologize for listening to or referencin Prince.

He is routinely worshiped by most all of us here as a Shredding Master Pimp of the Highest Order.

Prince is awesome, I'd love to catch him live at some point. Tickets are always so expensive though.

Yeah I think we paid close to 100 a seat and that was nose bleed. He came through last year and my wife and I would have loved to go but tickets were 277 each. He was playing this midsize venue, like 1000 people capacity. It was 2 shows a night for 2 nights. They had trouble selling tickets, so they had to combine the later shows to the earlier ones. Would have been a cool show to go to, but those ticket prices were just way to high.

1) Blizzard of Ozz w/Randy Rhoads - Capital Theater - 4/24/81. We were 5th row!!! It was the most amazing display of virtuosity! Then a week later twice at the Palladium(5/2/81), in NYC. After the 1st show, we climbed the fire escape, gave the bouncer $5 and got in for the 2nd show.

2) Black Sabbath with Van Halen - MSG - NYC. VH's 1st tour. Great show to say the least.

3) King's X - Starland Ballroom - NJ 2004

4) Gary Moore at the Ritz - NYC, '88 or '89

5) SRV at the Pier in NYC in 1984.

Honorable mention: Andy Timmons(The Iridium 2013) Rush(Palladium 1980), Judas Priest/Iron Maiden(Palladium 1981or2), Jeff Beck(Palladium 1980),Van Halen(MSG 1984), Steve Vai(Starland Ballroom - w/Sheehan, MacAlpine), DLR(w/Vai, Sheehan MSG 1986- NYC).

slayer-whatever tour where they played Reign in Blood front to back.
genitorturers-saw them a few times, S&M+metal=win. some extreme shit, IMO, went down at the masquerade in atlanta...i'll spare the details.
GWAR-baby aliens were birthed, crowd was covered in alien jizz and afterbirth.
black sabbath-saw them on the reunion tour @ ozzfest. had chills for half the set.
BTBAM-absolutely amazing that they can (and do) actually perform the songs on their records note for note.

there are tons more, but those stand out right now.

Type O Negative/Queensryche-1995. Not even a huge mega fan of either one, but the performances and tones of both bands were flawless.

White Zombie/Pantera-1996. Great show all around. Ranks really high for me especially now since Dime is gone.

Monster Magnet/Sevendust/Megadeth-1998 Cryptic Writings tour. Monster Magnet was cool. Sevendust and Megadeth both just killed it that night. :rawk:

GWAR-1999, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. Always a blast each time. I've seen them I don't know how many times. I usually keep my ticket stubs from each show I go to.

Meshugga/Ministry-2008 :rawk: brutal performance. My ears were ringing for days.

Iron Maiden-2008. Somewhere Back In Time tour. Awesome show. Could feel the heat from the pyro from where my seats were.

Butthole Surfers-Halloween 2009. Great time from what I can remember.

Those are the show that stand out as being the best that I can remember. I got to see Fear Factory and Megadeth about 6 weeks ago. Both bands played great, but probably only sticks out because it was the most recent show I got to see.

most of you have heard this story in some place or another, but i left this one out, dave reminded me.

came home on leave from the military...03-04? somewhere in there. after a night of hanging out with some friends, hit up wal mart at like 3 am for some grubtations. run into this cheerleader from high school that i always wanted, who had since gone all goth--all black, betty page bangs, penciled eyebrows and all. we get to talking, catching up (i didnt know she really knew me all that well in HS) and she says she's going to QOTSA/NIN in san antonio the next night. and that the dude she was taking was a douche, and would i like to go. for free.

uh, yeah.

on the drive down to san antone, old crush confessions are discussed....and are mutual! yissss
rad fucking show, decent seats, for free, both qotsa and nin killed it as they say, which i proceeded to do to that pussy for the rest of the weekend.

fucking, thanks walmart!

Morbid Angel's Covenant tour. I'm 6'3" 220lbs, so I had a front row ticket. The crowd and venue made it even better.
Big 4 is a close second. I bought a VIP ticket for that and also made my way to the front. I was tripping on ambien and was standing directly in front of Hetfield, when they played Blackened with lazer lights. I kept thinking "James will play better, if you give him this $9.50 beer."
