Upgrade Logic Express 9 to Pro X?

I have been using Logic Express with moderate success for about 2 years now but am considering updating to the newest version. Anyone else gone from 9 to X? How easy was the transition?

I'd be curious about this too. I'm on Logic Pro 9 and have been trying to find out from anybody if X is more or less processor intensive doing the same types of things. My iMac is getting some age on it and there's times in big mixes where I start running into processor peggage. If X is a little more efficient it might be worth it.

I made the jump and it's been pretty good so far. Initial release was not quite as efficient as 9 but with updates plus the latest OS X Mavericks patches it's been a little better about splitting workload amongst different cores. The UI is an interesting switch up and I like it better for the most part. It's no less stable from my experience than 9.

One thing I am digging is that like Final Cut Pro X they are continually improving through patches.

Awesome. I noticed that in the updates they are also adding things like more "drummers" and kits, and that kind of stuff. How do the native drum kits stack up? I am using Slate Platinum 4 and LOVE it.

The in the box kits are definitely workable. A little basic but they will get the job done. The drummers themselves which more or less auto generate midi sections for you are pretty cool. If you just want to throw down something basic you can tweak some knobs for feel and they play on their own.

One of the neat things you can do is substitute the apple drum kit midi instrument with your own and have the drummer playing the kit you define in Superior Drummer or SSD. I actually screwed around with that last week and it worked well.
