Looking to trade my trusty JCM800 2203 head. The amp is an 87 model, loaded with Svetlana EL34s, and has JJs in the preamp. The amp has had a couple of minor mods - the treble bleed cap has been removed from the preamp gain dial; 800s get very bright the lower the gain is set - with this cap removed, it sounds thick no matter where it's set. It's also had a couple of values changed to allow more gain - the mods were done professionally by Chicago Amp works, and are totally reversible (no holes etc drilled). The amp is in good condition as can be seen from the pics.
I love the sound of the amp, but need something a bit more flexible for the band I'm in. Want to trade for something like a JVM410 - multi channel etc. happy to throw in some $ too, or some pedals I also have. Doesn't have to be a JVM - throw me some offers. No DSLs though please.
The amp sounds AWESOME, especially when given room to breathe. Anyone that's played an 800 will know what I mean. I'm located in the Chicago area, and the amp can be tested in a soundproofed space. might also sell outright for the right offer.
