FS: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Mahogany Satin

Post by Markdude »

I'm selling my limited run (2012 only) Gibson Les Paul Traditional Mahogany Satin in Ebony. These were made only during 2012 and have a mahogany body, mahogany top, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. It has the stock pickups - '57 Classic in the neck and a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge (the same as all the other Traditional models). It has a gorgeous satin finish and I've babied the guitar and it is in mint condition. I bought it new and still have the original Gibson manufacturing information card and I'm including the original hardshell case. It has been professionally set up for .010 gauge strings. More info about these guitars can be found here: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electri ... Satin.aspx

I love this guitar but I have always lusted after a Les Paul Custom, and my new job has made that a reality...but I can't justify keeping this axe too.

Asking $1150 shipped. If you're local I'd be glad to bring it to you and I'll bump $50 off the price.

Last chance! Ebay auction ends in 2.5 hours. No bids yet but I have 34 watchers so I'm fully expecting a bidding war. Buy it directly from me and piss them all off! ;)

Didn't sell. I guess 34 people like to watch auctions with no intent of bidding even for a steal such as this! Weird. Still up for grabs!

Not even one. And my opening bid was $1050 FFS! That's as low as I'd be willing to go. I feel like that's WAY more than a fair price. WTF?!

10 minutes before the auction ended, some guy messaged me asking for more pics. Too bad I'm at work right now...but really, 10 minutes?! And after the auction some guy asked me if I would sell it for $750 outside of Ebay. Go fuck yourself.

Set your opening bid lower, but keep your reserve.
You will at least get a few bids and maybe some momentum started that way.

$1,050 is a lot of cash these days for a guitar - especially 'satin'.
Brings to mind lower end guitars.

But if the starting bid was stated, don't know why they would watch with no intent to bid. Maybe just pricing the market.

I've been watching the market and these are consistently selling for $1200-1500 (even non-mint), so I think $1050-$1150 is absolutely an insane deal for this thing. Another person in this thread even chimed in stating as such. I may entertain the idea of a reserve but I'm a bigger fan of just starting the bid at my actual bottom line. I'm sure my lack of photos is probably the main drawback. I suppose it's worth a shot though. I've just always thought reserves were dumb.

I think its gets people more interested though.
In Dave's Silverburst auction, he let the bidding start at $.99, but had a reserve, so he knew he wasn't giving it away.
People get bidding at the lower numbers, and you could end up with a little competition at the end.
Hell, I even threw a bid on it.

Yeah, I just think it's silly because people are more interested in playing a game and potentially wasting their time than they are in dealing with a transparent seller.

He listed it, but may have pulled it when the Trad deal fell through.

Congrats on selling your LP!

Nice looking guitar. Unfortunately Les Pauls are counterfeited so often that it's very hard to purchase them off of the internet and be reasonably sure they are real. There was a guy near where I live that has a music store that got busted because he had more than twenty fake Les Pauls and was selling them as genuine. They came down pretty hard on him and the knockoffs were so well done that most of the "experts" couldn't tell they were fakes. Though I THINK the vast majority of fakes are Standards and Customs.
People are VERY leery of Les Pauls on Ebay.
