Ayreon - The Theory of Everything

Post by Mauler »

I just got my book copy of this last Friday and after numerous spins to really get an appreciation of the story and structure I can say this is 'MY' album of the year.

Its very prog, and all the vocalists do a great job, especially JB from Grand Magus.

It is a lot to digest though, as it is 4 x 20 minute tracks broken up into 42 chunks but you need to listen to a disc at a minimum to get an appreciation of the flow of the album. It seems more focused to me compared to say 01, and I think it is primarily due to the limited number of singers on it.

What say ye about this album GAB?

I've been addicted to this album since it came out. I'm a huge fan of everything Arjen puts out, and this is no exception.

(In case no one else got it from the topic, he's talking about the new Ayreon album)

Title edited for clarity.

But yeah finally got around to listening to disc 3 (instrumental version of disc 1) tonight. Still so epic and I can't really listen to anything else since I got this album.... Arjen addict here as well.

This is great! I'm on my second listen and it's a great concept album. The story is pretty cool too. The orchestration of it is awesome, though there may be too much Rudess.
