Pop star backing guitarists

Post by Dickarms »

was watching the gaga SNL. those two clowns on guitar and bass..... wow. i despise the over-acting "rocker" thing. those hand movements....embarrassment to the craft, sirs.

im sure its a great paying gig, maybe billy knows some of these hired gun types due to his locale.

and there are some on here that will be like "hell yeah! gettin paid playing music! winning!"

i dont think korean elvis was winning behind gaga.

and side note, what the fuck r. kelley? a) is that a suit skirt? b) who dat bish? c) again...wtf, r. kelley?

I watched that performance and it made me sad.

I'm old enough in HC tenure to remember the weeping and gnashing of teeth on the old boards when Greg Howe took a gig backing N*SYNC on tour. It was like 2001. :D

Didn't see the performance, but....they're backing a pop band, what should they be doing?

I mean, if you're on stage with lady gaga, you're probably going to be looking stupid no matter what.

I wish someone had a flamethrower for those two. Overall, I don't mind Lady GaGa and was glad to see her poke all kinds of fun at herself.

But yeah, Korean Spazoid Elvis and his buddy completely over did it.

On the opposite side of the Pop-Rock-Guitarist-Sidekick thing, I recently discovered Pinks guitarist, Justin Derrico. He overdoes it with the shred factor at times. But when he backs off a bit, he's pretty brilliant.

gaga as a comedienne: killed it. i really enjoyed her sense of humor actually. id be way down to kick it with her.
gaga as a performer: man that was bad, even for her. she can really sing, unfortunately she drenches her ability in a cloak of "how can i get them to say wtf tonight....a random dude in purple tights? check. pringles flower outfit? that should work."
and shes losing her touch as far as the songwriting goes. ability still there, talent...not so much.

they, like the rest of the band, should be near invisible, shaded in the back of the stage. while these two weren't spotlighted specifically, they were being douchey enough to be seen during the first song. you really have to see the guitarists coordinated arm movements to know what i mean. scope that link out. misery loves company.

during the second, their doucheness had apparently earned them a spot in the spotlight, and towards the end of thesong, while opsy gungnam korean elvis was jamming out on an acoustic, some crazy level gibson mastercraft abalone $7000 somethingrother model acoustic was brought out specifically for lady gaga to blatantly (thumb stroke, fingers on the soundboard) pretend to play for the last bit. culminating in a freezeframe at the end with excessive doucehness abound.

just a real overall mockery of anything cool.

Along with some of the most obviously failed lip synch attempts ever. Or maybe they just don't even try anymore because everyone knows it's fake?

Don't take pop music seriously. It's just a hook with a gimmick. The stuff pop artists put out is disposable. Lady Gaga wouldn't be where she is without doing and wearing weird shit. What some people call "artist expression," I call doing something ridiculous for notoriety. Why the hell else would wear a meat suit?

gf spotted this too, so i examined it. she was really singing, but had a backup track for her chorus. you could tell from the volume fluctuations and the whole verse at the end sung a tad flat. but yeah that one part where she closed her mouth and the track kept going...lol.

"Over acting rocker thing" instantly reminded me of that shitty Daughtry (I think) video where the camera movement is syncronized to the dudebro's picking hand while he leans back, assumes full-on constipation stance, and downstrums in a ridiculously exaggerated fashion. Wow. Such rock. So bro.

The whole video is nothing but shitty auto-stabilization-esque camera techniques emphasizing forced rocking. WOW BRO MY STRUMMING IS SO INTENSE. Christ, this band is horrible. Worse than Nickelback.

Justin Derrico is a good guitarist.

Diddlybo is right, the douchebags won the music industry. Their takeover began on August 11, 1997.

Well I guess the video editor had to try every single video effect trick he had available to try not to die of boredom while listening to worlds most uninspired boring song while editing the worlds most uninspired boring video.

Their next video will be filmed in an empty high school cafeteria. And the one after that in an empty theater. And the one after that in an empty industrial warehouse.

I think it goes much deeper. Their takeover began when Fred Durst was born.

Actually, it started when Run-DMC collaborated with Areosmith.

The shot heard round the world was when Korn bumped Garth Brookes off of the top of the Billboard Charts. I like so many other people, said collectively....

Who the fuck is Korn?

I suppose the flip-side is that Korn was the first band to really exploit the potential of what was still known then as, The World Wide Web.

But their music still sucks.

Yes, after all, Korn did start the lame metal genre.

And all Korn really did was take Morbid Angel and Sepultura, take out the blast beats and guitar solos so there was nothing left but the chugging grooves, put it in shiny track suits, and add lyrics for angry 14 year olds. :idk:

I'm more impressed by the fact they went to the trouble of setting up their amps etc but forgot to give the lead singer a microphone.

You fail to comprehend the power of The Daughtry.

His feels exist on multiple levels and thus, are too deep for you.
