The purpose of this is purely to test a new pickup that I got as it's super thick & chunky sounding. I won't mention what it is to keep people guessing.
The Drums, Vocals & Bass are from guitar hero Metallica stems. The guitars (two tracks one hard left & one hard right) are my Jackson DKMGT with the above mentioned pup into my SLO-ish amp recorded with Brows Audix i5. No boosts and such in use just straight into the amp.
I'm quite pleased how it came out especially as the original song has 6+ guitar tracks going on including some central ones.

It definitely sounds good. Maybe just a tiny bit thinner than the album, but like you say, that's six+ tracks of guitar, plus that crazy bass thing Jamez was duping the palm mutes on, plus whatever other studio tricks they were using to thicken. Nice job.

Cheers, Yeah there is a heck of a lot going on in the original track. I don't have the patience to record that many tracks. I may redo it when i've finished building the mkiic+ as that will be a bit more convincing.

Nice tone! The original is a lot more scooped in the mids, try putting a cut around 1kHz with a really wide q and experiment with the amount? Remember to boost the volume of the eq to compensate.

Yeah I know it's a lot more scooped but it's pretty hard to get a SLO to do scooped without sounding too forced. I'll give that a shot though

I meant use post eq on your guitar bus in your DAW, not re-record it if that's what you meant.
