I did a couple of tests on my Laney IRT60H lead channel with 3 different guitars (Ibanez S series, My Custom Jaguar, Gibson SG standard). Here's the first attempt:

Here are the same guitars but with less mids:

These sound great man.
I think overall I prefer the clips with mids than without - I like the SG clips the best but that Jag is a very close second.
Cool tones!

I agree with mr Pamuk, the ones with mids sound better in fact add more mids.

Re: Some dirt sounds. Thoughts?
There's a bit more rip in the mids up versions that appeals to me. The Jag clips sound the best. They all sound good in their own way but Jag mids up in
.

Re: Some dirt sounds. Thoughts?
Needs a bass guitar to really tell anything imho.
I liked the ones without the mids better, I think the bass would sit better in that mix, also scooping the mids makes the guitars seem brighter which in turn makes your mix sound wider. I always feel too much midrange in guitars makes the stereo image sound narrow and boxy. I'm not talking about Nile levels of mid scoop here though. Just enough to make everything sit nicely.

I agree. More mids. Add mids. Lower mids or no mids makes the guitar sound like it's in the background. Like you're trying bring the drums up front.

Thanks guys! I am trying to note down settings that work with my rig. I am finally becoming happy with the high gain sounds.

Definitely sounds better with mids.
