Is anyone else spending their Saturday night watching this on palladia?
Someone needs to remind Billy Corgan that he's in his 40s and about 15 lbs heavier than he thinks he is. For the second half of this show he's had a good inch to an inch and a half of gut hanging out the bottom of his child's medium tshirt.
His new bass player and drummer on the other hand are absolutely killing it, and the absurd rack rig Corgan is using is nailing the tones off both old and new tracks.
Thoughts?

Forgot that was on tonight. Luckily they're replaying it tomorrow so I set my DVR to snag it. Thanks for reminding me

Does he still have the MTS rig in the rack?

So let me get this straight.. You're bagging on the dude that wrote the songs and sold all' the records, but have high praise for the help?
I'll start by imparting my effortless polarization by virtue of participation..
Re: Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania Live in NYC
I grew up on the pumpkins. Siamese Dream was one of the first albums I bought with my own money. I can't say I liked Oceania, but that's not my point. I'm not slagging on the songs. He just comes off as cock. I dislike his one-man show mentality, his embarrassing stage presence and demeanor, and douchey persona. It kind of reeks of Axl Rose. It's one of those "never meet your heroes" deals with me.
But that being said, the rhythm section he hired is fucking good. The guitar player came off as just begging for the spotlight and overplaying everything he could get his hands on, but the other two were killer. Everything sounded great but I couldn't help but cringe watching him on stage.

I DVR'd but haven't watched it yet. I saw them play on one of the festival montages and it sounded awesome. The version of "Tonight, Tonight" they did was epic.

Watched last night, and I gotta say, these guys are easily on par with the original band as far as musicianship goes. Some of the newer songs are a little
and a tad too jammy for me, but some of the newer renditions of the classics are fkn spectacular, or the way they play 'em however. Everyone has excellent toane and their new drummer, holy shit that dude is all over the place in a good way. Saved on the DVR to watch another time or two probably. I always preferred SP to Nirvana and now I'm remembering why.
