Re: when you think of Black Sabbath....
Hmm.. never thought about it..
But i thought i read the were in C.. But that was from a 1992 Guitar World with Iommi and Hetfield on the cover, which also included a multipage interview with Trey from Morbid Angel..
But i digress.. lol. I guess my memory is a bit foggy since everyone is saying c#..

This is the correct answer. Nothing finer, in my book.

Re: when you think of Black Sabbath....
any answer between standard E and C# is acceptable, as they've used every tuning from there to there.
the black sabbath i find myself listening to the most are tuned to Eb.

Ok, so I just looked over the forum rules. Apparently, you're allowed to have no idea what you're talking about.

p.s. obviously I was just having some fun with you

I'd hope so or Billy'd spend his entire day bant-hammering the lot of us.
C# = Sabbath in my world.
Re: when you think of Black Sabbath....
I think sometimes they just tuned to each other, cause jamming along with some of their stuff was a little off.

Find Bob Daisley blog. Ozzy didn't write one word for Blizzard. Bob says he only hummed melody over tunes that were already there. Daisly and Kerslake wrote the Lyrics for the two most awesome albums in the history of RNR. Ozzy = Sharon SCUM

Lyrics are overrated, but whatever. That's an entirely different discussion.
Ozzy IS Black Sabbath IMO.
Ozzy has (or had, however you wanna look at it) a good sense of melody, an awesome stage presence, and shitloads of enthusiasm. He might not be the quintessential musician, but he's one of the greatest frontmen of all time. You can't debate that.
Sabbath was the highest grossing tour band of the 70s in large part because of Ozzy's live persona and his "fuck yeah!" attitude.
The other guys were all fabulous singers and fit great in Sabbath, but they can't touch Ozzy. No fuckin way.
Can't believe we're having a debate on Ozzy's legitimacy. Wow.

I think I'm gonna have to disagree with you here. Ozzy is NOT Black Sabbath, that honor goes to Tony IMO. Even back then, Geezer wrote most of the lyrics, Ozzy barely pulled his weight back in the seventies, especially towards the end. Ozzy was unique, but lets be honest, he was really just a figurehead for Sabbath even in those day's.
As much as I love the Ozzy day's, the Dio era was just better. Dio really brought out the best in the band, especially Tony. You can't say the same for Ozzy. IMO, they were much more creative, and took bigger risks. I've said this before, and I stand by it, Ozzy really rode the coattails and talent of his bands to success, and that becomes blatantly obvious in the 80's.
My two cents.
