Random Access Memories

Post by Ostinato Rubato »

This album is actually pretty fucking good from start to finish. I was really impressed with it and did not at all mind it being in a genre that I typically do not want to listen to. You can tell that real music writing happened on that album. Good job Daft Punk.

I'll have to check it out - the little Daft Punk I listened to seemed too heavy on repetition with very minor variances (like the stuff on Homework), whereas I liked things more like the Chemical Brothers' early releases.

Ah, looks like R A M is on Grooveshark.com....this sounds more like something from Jamiroquai, pretty good. Not the hard synth voices, but that's OK.

I agree with your earlier observations. This album is really good though.

While I agree its pretty good, it pales in comparison to Discovery. That album is an electronic masterpiece.

I'm listening to Discovery now. It's also quite good. But Rear Naked's right. completely different vibe.

I just wanted to revive this thread, because the Random Access Memories album continues day after day to impress me delightfully. It's awesome to have musical fuel and inspiration come from a source way outside of my usual tastes. This album is so solidly musical and evolved from anything Daft Punk has put out before. And I'm sorry if I'm going against the grain, but Discovery doesn't even come close.

Agreed. I lurk more than post. It's not the usual stuff I listen too. I love it! Great album from start to finish.

I wrote those guys off years ago, thinking just another techno group.
