I defy you to find a better death album

Bloodbath- The Fathomless Mastery is one of those "perfect" albums out there for me. Holy shit is it ever good.

Seriously, Ackerfeldt has some of the best growl vocals out there. I am not an Opeth fan, by most means. It bores me to tears most of the time and I consider it pretty unremarkable, but this... I'm so glad to find that they reissued this album with more tracks.

Bloodbath has always had that "imitation of the real thing" air about it for me for some reason.

Probably because that's exactly what they are, deliberately.

Yeah, I guess they're more of tribute to death metal. Which is why it's just so calculated sounding, lacking the "who gives a shit" grime of the originals. :)

I dunno how much stuff they put out, but I've got one album and the original Bloodbath EP. It's ok stuff I suppose.

From memory the kick drum sitting basically on top of everything else in the mix of the EP makes me want to brick people in the face, but it's been a long time since I listened to it.

Yeah, I kind of threw this up as a way to get people to admit that Bloodbath is the type of stuff Ackerfeldt should be singing for all the time.

Death is my favorite too. The production on this album is outstanding, though Human is a true masterpiece.
