100 watt amp + 160 watt cab... safe to crank a little?

100 watt amp + 160 watt cab... safe to crank a little?

I'm taking my Laney VH100R over to a buddy's house next week and I'll be lugging both of my cabs along. I got a 4x12 with K85's and a 2x12 with BL-80's. I'm going to see which speaker I prefer, and I yes I understand that the 2x12 vs. 4x12 factor alone can effect sound even with the same speaker, but nonetheless I need to make a choice between these two speakers. Anyway....

My 2x12 is 160 watts. Is it safe to push this cab a little with a 100 watt head? I'm not going to be diming it, or even getting near 5 probably.

Safe to push it. Think about it: there are Marshall cabs with four Greenbacks in them (i.e. 100 watt cabs) that have been pushed hard for decades by 100 watt amps with no ill effects. You 160 watt cab will be fine.
