Simple software for basic recording?
Hey guys, I'm a recording n00b, and I'm looking for just a very basic recording software, that I can use to record basic audio clips from a mic and then export them into a DAW. Doesn't need to be fancy....

The most basic and free is Audacity. It isn't too shabby either. I use Reaper, but it costs to buy. It isn't expensive, but it isn't free either.

^^^This. Audacity will only get you so far. Reaper Personal license is well worth the $60.

+1 for Reaper. It's simple enough to start with, but can go very deep so you won't feel restricted in the long run.
Learn the key shortcuts, it makes everything go a lot smoother:
Ctrl+T = new track
Ctrl+R = rec
space = play/stop
S = split track at cursor
Ctrl+Alt+R = render track

Re: Simple software for basic recording?
Audacity ain't bad especially for basic muti track recording and mixing.
Re: Simple software for basic recording?
I use Mixcraft. It's not too expensive, $75 when I bought it, and super easy to use.
