Re: my 1st EP is finally finished!
I'm pleased to announce that Lars' customer service is as impeccable as his playing.
This arrived promptly and frankly I feel guilty at how little it cost me; after putting the CD in my shopping cart, I expected to be charged extra for shipping at checkout, but was not. I have the feeling he had to spend half of what I paid him on postage.
In any event, here's the care package:

Benjamin,
I'm glad it got there already. Kinda surprised, too, because sometimes postal service here takes forever when sending stuff overseas.
Thanks for posting this and thank you for the support. Seeing this put a big smile on my face!

Got mine on Saturday, also with a nice little note.
Love the artwork. It looks even nicer in print than it does on the screen. Still lovin' the tunes.

Sounds pretty good man. Mind giving me some info on how you got the artwork/case done and how you got it printed on the CD. I will be looking into doing the same thing shortly.

I have listened, and I like it. Did it get any mastering? The new versions seem even more polished and finished than the samples you put up before. Good job!

Received your cd today. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but I'll check it out this weekend and report back with an in-depth, song by song analysis.

Re: my 1st EP is finally finished!
I listened to your cd quite a bit this weekend. I hear a strong Dream Theater influence on Unexpected Complications and Floating. Crisis Management reminded me of Rush with a hyper Neal Peart vibe.
It's cool that your tracks often hint at a particular band/style then you go off and morph it into your own thing as the song progresses.
Another thing that jumped out at me were the fast runs that you end with a bend/vibrato. It must have taken a lot of practice to pull off those fast runs, then nail the bend & vibrato all the while keeping it on pitch.

Still listening to this here and there and have to say Crisis Management really sticks with me for some reason. That's just a killer song. I like the others, but that one gets me every time.

Thanks so much!

Good to hear you like the EP.
Yes, I had to practice the fast runs a lot. My alternate picking is not very fast, so everything that is somewhat fast took me loads of practice.

Did you use the HD 500 on this? Pretty sure I'm hearing the recto sim.
Also, what software did you use for mastering? Your cd is super loud and has that professional sheen to it. I put your cd on after playing a cdr of some of my stuff and I had to turn down my stereo a good 10 clicks because it was crazy loud.

Yup, used the HD500 and the recto sim is on one of the rhythm patches, the other one is the fireball model. Both are boosted with a screamer sim.
I used Ozone 5 for mastering.

Thanks for the reply. I need to spend some more time with the fireball model. I had kinda dismissed it but it clearly deserves another listen.

I really like the Fireball model, but I am not sure if I would use it by itself. I think it sounds very good when having two rhythm guitar and the other rhythm is using a different model.

I don't think the Fireball model would cut it on its own, at least not for the tone I'm going for. It's too bad there is not a 6505 model on the HD.

What do you think of the SLO they added with the last update?
