Just don't know about this one.

Post by nightflameauto »

First off, why it's attached to a video game vid? :freak: Phil from Whitechapel babbling about superhaters.

On the one hand, it's sad he felt compelled to do this at all. On the other hand, really, sack up. By the end of it he kinda falls into a whining diatribe of failure about, "do whatever the fuck you wanna do and don't do whatever the fuck you don't wanna do." Right, isn't that why we're at a point where you feel it's necessary to go whining over a video game about people that hate your band for stupid reasons?

And then there is the fact that Asking Alexandria does kinda suck.

But then he mentions Justin Timberlake and I'm kinda  :cop: .

But I think this is about the fourth one of these "current metal star whines about haters" vids I've come across in the past few weeks and it's got me wondering. Are metal dudes just thin-skinned gimps at this point, or are they just such a part of the internet generation that they can't imagine not making every possible thought public?

I actually blame Phil Anselmo for this whole phenomenon. For as macho and physical a frontman he was, of the baddest band ever to break into the mainstream, he has been a whiny defensive little emo tart in interviews for going on two decades and counting now. I think his influence is far-reaching. :cop:

Yeah, speaking of which I just watched another Philsy interview today where he was whining about Vince not being willing to talk with him. He does that way too often.

LOL Whitechapel. That band sucks anyway, so who gives a shit if they toured with another shitty band?

Also, 0 gauge plugs, using the word "haters," and going by the name Philly-Bo makes you a complete tool.

I'm about 50/50 on Whitechapel. I'll listen from time to time, but seeing pictures or videos of them I know I'd never be able to handle seeing them at a show without being tempted to rush the stage and beat them with their instruments. They all have that look like they're uber nerds that thought getting a tat and making a straight face would make them tough.

Come to think of it, this video I ran across pretty much epitomizes what I just said there. Uber nerd, trying to be tough.

HumanFuseBen toured with them as a fill in: One of the nicest guys ever.

I've dealt with Ben Savage before too: Also one of the nicest guys ever.

I kinda get it. They're out there making music they love, and people are jerks sometimes. If you don't like, don't listen to it.

FWIW, I hate deathcore as a style, and the most recent Whitechapel record is fantastic.

I admit to not hearing anything off the latest album as what I had heard in the past put them on my "never actively seek out" list.

Yeah, I just got back from touring playing guitar for Whitechapel on that Asking Alexandria tour. I will tell you all straight up that all the WC guys are super super cool. And yeah, they pretty much are a bunch of nerds (what metal band isn't?). The band got a LOT of hate for doing the tour with AA, so I guess that must have hit Phil pretty hard. He is an avid CoD player and posts videos of gameplay from time to time. I don't understand it, but apparently other gamers geek out over that.
But yeah, good guys. And actually, the Asking guys were super cool too.
