Fender Deluxe Drive pickups

Post by GuitarBilly »

I bought a set to put on my Hohner strat since the stock pickups were not good. I think they're among the cheapest sets Fender sells these days, but I liked the specs on paper(they're Alnico 3 overwound). I installed them last week and I am super impressed with them.
They're probably not the best pickups for blues but for hard rock they're incredible. Tight, crisp tones with just the right amount of output to push the 2203 without sounding harsh or weak. I think I will get the Tele set next to try it out. If anyone is looking for a 70's Blackmore or even 80's Yngwie strat tones these pickups are awesome. Highly recommended.
Guitars:
'78 Les Paul Pro / '89 SG Special/ '04 Gibson Les Paul Classic 3 pickup / Jackson Star/ Endres Tele / Fernandes Rhoads/ ''74 Hohner MIJ strat/ 2 Partscasters

Amps:
Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

Dang it, for Black Friday I ordered a Tex Mex set for my Strat. And it’s great, but it would’ve been cool to have something more geared to my taste like that.

I'm glad someone tried these out. I've been eyeballing a set of those and random GFS stuff. Sounds like a win :thu:

I like some of the GFS gear, their hardware is great and I have a XGP strat body that is really good. But I never liked their pickups, I've tried many of them and they sound okay at best. Sort of like OEM pickups in cheap guitars.

This is a much better set. I'd recommend them even if they were 3x their current price.

Damn, they're putting Alnico magnets in their normal line pickups these days? That's bad ass!
