NAD: 1988 JCM 800 2204 - Pristine condition inside and out!

Post by cliffenstein »

I put in a lowball offer for 1988 JCM 800 2204 listed on the Sweetwater Gear Exchange thinking it would absolutely not be accepted. I don't need another amp, but just for kicks I put in the bid. Oops...it was accepted. $1800 and it was mine. Seller even included an Anvil Flight Case for free (a killer surprise that I definitely was not expecting).

I realize $1800 for an amp is still on the pricier side of things, but dang...for what I (and many others) consider the greatest amp ever built and considering what they list for these days, I feel like I got an absolutely incredible deal.

The amp arrived today. Wow...super clean inside and out...the only mar is a missing corner on one of the plastic handle covers.

I loaded it with my usual compliment of JJ EL34, JJ ECC83 tubes and without even having it biased yet, it sounds absolutely incredible.

Yep. That’s a beautiful proper Marshall if there ever was. HNGD! Play that beast LOUD!

EDIT: I took another look and you’re right. That is stupidly clean for its age.

After looking at it inside and out, I messaged the seller and asked him if he ever even gigged with it. Nope! He used it in band practice for 2 years before moving on to another amp.

Crazy!
