I figured lets break out my favorite mic combo of the AKG 414 and Sennheiser 421.. Micing there Evh celestions one on each speaker..

I Worte this 10 minutes before recording so its a little sloppy , but I used the boss ps6 harmonizer for the beginning to add some lower harmony.. I used to write a tone of riffs and songs with the old ps3 I had for 20 years and when I sold it I missed these ideas.. For the recordings sake I took off the ps6 on the 2nd half of the clip.. But this sounds fucking crushing..

I boosted the amp with the MXR Modified OD.. Using my EVH Wolfgang Special with the USA Wolfgang pickups. For those who somehow think you can't be heavy with A2 magnets.. Magnets mean nothing as far as tone.. Its just part of the recipe, cause I can use these pickups for the heaviest and fastest shit no problem

BTW I absolutely love the USA Wolfgang pickups. Makes me wish I hadn’t been a PAF snob all these years. If I could find these pickups in double cream I would slap one in the bridge of my Rgasm.

Yeah I love those pickups. Double cream DO exist but they are only from the Overseas versions. And my opinion on the overseas vs USA versions is they do differ. Like anything with the “same specs”, it’s in the ball park. And likely close enough for many. To a discerning ear, maybe nothing but the USA models will do. I have both and do prefer the USA. It’s not night and day but there’s no doubt there’s a difference. .

Altho I’m not sure if they offer em aftermarket yet in the double cream. But they’ll show up used. The Evh Shark guitar comes with the double cream, so that’s where guys are pulling em from

If you want sunthin that is legit pretty close.
There’s a company called Pariah that is pretty big among the Evh crowd and he has a line of Evh era specific pickups called Pasadena. And I believe there’s white black and Red Pasadena series. The red is the current Wolfgang pickup. I’ve tried em and was perfectly fine with em. I’m sure he does a double cream. His pasedena black, which is the frankenstein copy, is really good too.

There’s a company called Pariah that is pretty big among the Evh crowd and he has a line of Evh era specific pickups called Pasadena. And I believe there’s white black and Red Pasadena series. I like that the Alnico III is in the neck like the signature, help cure some of that darkness. Gat damn I wish they made that white signature Wolfie in lefty. I would have bought that one. Being lefty is incredibly dumb.

I have one I can send out if you’d like to try it.? It’s tough to say how different it is. Cause they are in the ballpark for sure. Maybe a touch darker, but also not really. The highs are just a bit different. The black is supposed to be the Frankenstein pickup which I really like. They really nailed that pickup, the Pariah version doesn’t try to get the raw aggression but it’s still “trying” to get there. So yeah, maybe a little more raw than the WG.
