Dimarzio White Pickups Question About Color

Post by thisguy »

I have some Area pickups (58/61) in white and the white is more off white than I expected but I like it. I want to get a humbucker to go HSS. Are the humbuckers the same white as the Areas. I guess I've never seen a white Dimarzio but in my head I picture them as being more stark white. Looking at the website they may be the same though. Just not sure.

I emailed Dimarzio last week but still haven't heard from them.

Anyone know?

So, DiMarzio has 2 shades of white single coils: white and aged white. The white humbuckers match the white single coils, and they are stark white.

If your Areas are off-white they're the aged white covers and will not match the humbuckers.

That said, DiMarzio sells the Area covers so it's easy and cheap to swap them. I think they're 10 bucks each and you can buy them directly from the DiMarzio website.
Guitars:

Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

I ordered the Areas in white and the packaging says white but they're less white than the Warmoth pickguard. I definitely don't think they're the aged white.

If you ordered white the DiMarxio humbucker will match it. Not sure why the warmoth pickguard doesn't.

Can I piggyback off this thread and ask if Dimarzio lost double cream trademark? I noticed Gibson and EVH have released some double creams. :hmm:

They didn't lose it, they actually won a suit about it very recently. But I've noticed some companies started doing it recently. Not sure what changed. Maybe DiMarzio is offering a licensing deal.

Probably. I'll just order it and find out.
