So, long story short, my duplex in the inner city (The Montrose
aka, gay/punk area) of Houston is getting torn down. My roommate and I have decided to move just north of the 610 loop. Big deal to inner loop Houstonians. Anyway, my roommate and I decided to get a house outside of the loop. We can get a place for him to paint in the garage and for me to jam/record in the extra room. He knows how to do good sound baffling, but I still would like something to run my amps direct/attenuated. Is the Two Notes Captor X a good solution for this?
Also, sorry for the over explanation. I just needed to vent about that, too. Love you guys!

Re: How good is the Two Notes Captor?
Yeah it's good. Although I prefer the Suhr Reactive Load IR, since it has a bigger sound. I think of the Captor Load as playing the amp through a 2x12 while the Suhr feels more like 4x12. But they're both very good.

Re: How good is the Two Notes Captor?
The regular captor doesn't have much attenuation on the padded output. The X has more if you need it. Another option is use the regular captor and a small solid state power amp pedal to drive the cab. You can have whatever volume you want then and that'll be cheaper than the X

as an attenuator.... I don't like it since the attenuation levels are fixed.... as a load box and speaker sim its pretty good, you just need to spend time dialing in the speaker sim since there are quite a bit of options and its not plug and play IMO

Yeah I missed the attenuator part. As an attenuator the Captor X is pretty limited.
I'd probably just go DI with it.

Nothing to add about the Captor, but I’m sorry to hear the place is being torn down and you have to leave Montrose. Such a fun part of town. Many Saturdays spent getting drinks at Rudyard’s and watching standup then grabbing a tall boy and some shawarma at AL next door for dinner on the way over to Slick Willy’s to play pool.
Miss those days.

I absolutely love the Captor. It’s a killer tool to record demos (despite the Wall of Sound plug-in looking like it was designed for Windows 95 by the developers of Winamp). The fixed -20db attenuation is awesome to knock down NMV amps and to reduce the hair trigger master volume so many amps have. And they’re affordable.
I used to play guitar.

All of this.
Total game changer for me and probably the best piece of gear I've purchased in decades.
