It takes away from the vintage tone, modern amenities. Don't get me started on channel switching amps...

That rig is mackadocious.
Re: Hello, boys.
The GC I used to live by had one of these snake skin SLOs for YEARS! I'm talking like a decade haha. Priced at $4400. No one going to GC around here has that kinda money haha. It sure was fun to jam on it whenever I was in there, though lol. Sick rig.

There are a few hills I will gladly die on. Yes they’ve become running gags and schtick but they are sincerely held.
One of those is delays and reverbs belonging in a good effects loop.

Shea!!!! Damn dude!! It's been a while! Welcome back and what a return!! That's a killer rig.
I assume this is one of the one of the newer SLOs? They're killer.
So what prompted you to get this rig? New band?

Thanks for the welcome, Sir! Ya it's a new one. We put The Bexar County Bastards back together. Other guitar player got matching SLO and his Mojotone oversized cab is also on order. Mine came with creamback 75's since I already had 65's in my beat to shit Marshall cab, he's getting redbacks but I have feeling we will mix the 75 and reds in an X pattern. I just got the cab yesterday but didn't have a chance to try it cause I left my speaker cable at jam room.

Testing it out now. It's pretty fucking awesome. It's much wider sounding than Marshall cab, but not as woofy sounding as Mesa oversized, maybe down to the port at the bottom behind the speaker cloth. Pretty stoked about it considering I've been using the same Marshall cab for over 20 years. Thought about getting a matching Soldano cab cause I know the new ones aren't front loaded, but it weirds me out that it's smaller and thinner. May still get one down the road.
I was going to buy a black LPC but I could not find a '68 historic in lefty and I'm not paying 5k for a Les Paul that weighs almost 10lbs. Decided to try USA Wolfie and I'm in love. Finally a neck that fits my tiny little girl hands.

Re: Hello, boys.
I'm in D standard. Fucking around here just testing some VH... poorly. This is pretty much what I was hoping for, less mid forward than 65's, a little more low end and some more teeth up top.

Re: Hello, boys.
That sounds glorious!!! Goddamn!!!!
A matching Soldano cab could be cool, but this one sounds great. I had never heard the creamback 75s with the SLO but damn it sounds awesome.
Glad to hear the BCB are back!!!

Re: Hello, boys.
Some thoughts about the new rig... Cole sent me the Source Audio Collider which I have since dubbed the "Cole-ider" and it's a pretty badass pedal. That is the delay/verb you hear in the vids. Finally being able to keep delay and verb on while riffing feels good man. In the vids I was using an EVH patch that I tweaked but normally I have it set less wet. And when playing in the band I just keep a little plate verb on all the time. Finally I can get the tone I've heard in my head all these years.
Honestly, I probably should have bought a Power Station so I could run delay/verb proper with my Superbass. Hell I may still do that just to keep the Superbass cause I've been contemplating selling it. The SLO is just so perfect for me. And I like it as much as the more expensive Wizards I've played. The SLO is not as tight and fast as the Wizards which is exactly why I like it. It's got a great sag and feels so easy for leads. Nice being able to get that level of saturation without an overdrive pedal. And the crunch channel is a hell of a lot like my Superbass wound up, but with the slightly different mid voicing.
Also, holy shit the CAE wah is amazing. Can't believe I avoided this wah for so long. On my vintage oriented board I have Mccon-o-wah that is as good as it gets for that traditional sound, but when downtuned and high gain its too quacky. Was looking around at wahs with variable sweeps for something a little lower and decided to give this to try. I like both normal and lower sweep. Been using lower but the higher one is super smooth. Also built in boost is phenomenal. So nice not having to click on OD pedal for volume boost before going to the wah.
The Wolfie has made me rethink my entire world view. I really like that it's a smaller guitar. Kinda makes me think I should have been fucking around with Ernie Ball Silhouette or something. Small neck shape, easy to throw around. Also the EVH pickups are truly phenomenal. I forgot how much low end a higher output pickup adds. It's fucking great. And the clarity/articulation under gain is truly impressive. I'm almost tempted to throw a double cream EVH into the bridge of my Rgasm. I probably won't but I've thought about it.

Re: Hello, boys.
I had the Power Station for a while. It was great and works as advertised. But it is effectively gigging with 2 tube amps, with all the pros and cons that come from it.
I found that the system works well for the most part but in some venues with dirty power etc there were some issues with noise and feedback with the PS output transformer being in proximity to your head's OT. I think having it all in one box makes it a bit iffy for live use.
So if I had to do it again, I'd probably go the old school way and slave the amp into a load box and take an isolated line out into the effects and power amp. It seems like that's still the way to go.
The SLO sounds killer though and the new ones have a great effects loop so it's definitely a simpler way to go.
