I've been lurking and not posting a lot lately, but here comes my new axe, due to arrive today/ It is NOS and this stain is exclusive to Sweetwater. I am sure people may hate the black stain, but I found it hypnotizing! I have a DTuna on order, still trying to decide where I want to tune it, maybe this one will be E or Eb (I have so many other axes in DropC).
I almost bought a Japanese EVH wolf but went this way. If you have an EVH, EBMM, or PV feel free to post them up! I used to have a fleet of HPs in the 2010s but currently down to 1 Black HP, 1 Black EVH special, 1 Blue HP2, and soon this one:

Yeah these are hot. They’re no longer made in Mississippi but that’s not a bad thing. I think they’re being made in Europe now.
Also that thing is freakin gorgeous. I had a HP Special that was absolutely wonderful to play. Kinda miss it sometimes.

My only change for it would be black hardware instead of chrome. I played one of the HP2 about a year back. It was a great playing guitar but made my Les Paul custom feel like a lightweight. The thing had to be 10-11lbs!

Cool guitar. The shop I tech at is technically a Peavey dealer but they have been terrible about getting product in.
But we have gotten a half dozen or so of the HP2. Cool guitars. They need a nice setup in most cases but they look great and are pretty well done. Made in CZech Republic I believe. By the places that build Spector I want to say. And a few others. It’s a high end operation.
Altho all the ones we got were the NOS Peavey parts. So I’m curious about the total CZech made stuff

Good news! The floyd that comes with it is crap so maybe a black FR is in my future

If it’s remotely like the HP Special I had and old Peavey Wolfgangs I’ve played, it’s gonna be SUPER COMFORTABLE.

Who says the Floyd is crap? I’ve seen a few people claim they “won’t stay in tune “ and on EACH persons guitar who said that the saddles were all pulled forward onto the saddle screws. Meaning the saddles weren’t locked down and all pulled forward til they hit the screw. And I can say that for whatever reason, I had to tighten the saddle adjust screws on a couple we got as well. It the Floyd is equivalent to a Floyd Rose 1000. Honestly, The Floyd is perfectly fine And also as far as weight, most we’ve had have been pretty light. Sweetwater should have the weight listed. Like any guitar, there are gonna be some heavier than others. For instance I’ve gotten 4 of the Japanese EVH in recently and they ALL were around 9lbs. So those may be a bit heavier. But the NOS PV Wolfgangs, er HP2’s, are generally a bit lighter.
The internet told me it's crap lol. It seems fine for now, they say it wears out faster. I already have a 2018, which I thought was identical but it is not. The 2018 floyd can be decked for dive only and still be real close to being parallel with the body. This seems to be a 2021 from Czech Republic and seems similar but the floyd can pull up 1/2 step, so I'm sure it could not be decked without having a really weird back angle. I think I need to find a trem stop or something.
The side fret dots are black which are close to invisible...but surprisingly not a big deal to me in a bedroom. Probably would suck on a dark stage with stage nerves though.
Besides all that, this guitar is perfect. I really dig it right now.

EndTime wrote:Black side dots…. Way to think that thru Sweetwater. Seriously that’s ridiculously stupid.
So you either have someone redrill for white, or try it yourself or do the “guitar” player fix of painting some sort of side marker or a sticker..
That’s honestly a MAJOR issue as far as seeing and knowing where one is at on the fretboard.
I agree with that. An example that I experienced was with the Schecter I bought last year and returned. Had Luminlay side dots on a roasted neck. I thought that they would glow nice and bright but in reality, they disappeared in darker rooms on the roasted maple. Completely useless.
