Boss PS-6 detune in stereo clip

Post by EndTime »

I know a lot of guys use it for this Evh Hagar era thing and of course I have all the Evh stuff but all I ever see is dudes playing the handful of riffs from that time that define this sound. So boring. And I’d never want to copy someone’s else’s tone anyway. Steal some ideas for sure! Lol. But that’s the point.

Anyway. I wanted a new pitch shifter and the good thing of working in a music shop is I get to try shit out and the owner mentioned all about the detune. And honestly stereo anything is always pretty cool. So this simply splitting into my 6505 into the the old 5150 cab panned left and then into my Evh 5153 el34 into a cab I made panned right. . Just playing a bit, no plan, but it definitely sounds pretty huge and wide

Thanks. It Is pretty good. I figured it would be but this is literally just setting up mics and hitting record. No effort and it sounds pretty legit. If anything I found those two amps sounds pretty interesting together. No boosts on either. The 5153 doesn’t need one but the original 6505 kinda likes one but this is straight in. The added beef works well with the more cutting 5153

Yep that's cool. I've been wanting to try out the PS-6. Seems to be a good pedal for this type of effect.

Sounds killer. I dig the detune tone. I have zero interest in playing VH stuff but it's just a cool tone. I have the little cheap blue detune pedal on my board that I turn on occasionally. Can't remember the brand. Joyo, Mooer.... can't remember. But it was cheap. A stereo unit would be cool for sure.

duuuuuuuuude...

My favorite era VH tone is the Balance era. I think it was the Soldano/EBMM years, right?

This evokes that and makes me happy. Well done. Do a cover of Amsterdam now!

Closest I ever got to this tone was when I had an XXX2 and a digitech XP100 Whammywah. It had a detune preset (preset #29 IIRC) that was bang on.

Thanks dudes!
No Hagar era cover tunes except maybe Source of Infection! I’ve actually learned that beginning and riffs. That song fucking rips..

I do agree the Balance tone is pretty huge and definitely a great tone. Only like handful of tunes off it tho.

I like the Hagar era EVH tone but song wise the DLR era is better. Almost like 2 different bands tbh

Even the micropitch thing, the 1984 album was my favorite example of it.

BTW I didn't delete your foot thread just moved it to OT in case you're wondering

Holy shit that is smoking tone! After many years of trying many amps, give me a cranked JMP,a 5150 variant or one of the better Mesa Mark amps for hard rock or metal. They just fucking work.

I remember you playing a bit of the song 5150 in the past, which fucking rules.....

I'd love to hear it with this set up

Sounds good! I have a Digitech Luxe I use from time to time. Into two 4X12's and not stereo though.
