Palmer PDI-05

Post by vickno »

I wanna build a small stereo rig with this Palmer and 2 mini heads (Orange Micro Terror - hybrid and Bogner Ecstasy mini - SS), do I need to use speaker cabinets ? I know this Palmer is not a load box, but the amps are not (full) valve either. Thanks !

This was exactly what I thought, but this phrase from the Orange manual left me puzzled: "If the Headphone jack is not in use, a suitable speaker cabinet must be connected at all times during use.

That's strange. But if the warning comes from the manufacturer I wouldn't ignore it and I'd at least send them an email and ask for clarification.

But I don't see any reason the amp couldn't operate without a load. It seems like it's just a standard class D power amp.

Still, check with the manufacturer.

Thanks ! However, if the cab would not be necessary, should I use the Line switch and instrument cable between amps and Palmer ?

No you definitely have to use the speaker switch position. And speaker cables.

The line position is for when you're using a preamp.
