Greg Koch playing through a mic'd Katana 50 combo

Post by overdrivenel34s »

Sucks that he had two sig amps go down at a gig at same time. Katana 50 combo to the rescue though.

I haven't watched the video yet but a couple of thoughts:

I have a Katana combo and if I saw Greg Koch live I would hope he wasn't using one.

Also, I'm seeing him live Tuesday so I'm glad that's enough time to get something sorted out.

Yep. I saw his post on FB about that. Just haven't had a chance to watch the video yet.

 and it wasn't even his, someone in the audience told him he had his Katana combo in his car so he went out and brought it in for him to use. Greg said he just set the amp clean and ran his pedalboard into it.

The amount of tones and versatility of the Boss Katana has to be the best bang-for-buck ratio in the history of electric guitar gear.

This dude's Katana just jumped in value too.

Same bro, same.

The Katana combo I tried years back actually did sound really really good. Didn't have that normal modeler bullshit sound/feel, and while it wasn't perfect I did take note when I first heard it and had to go try it myself.

Yeah Koch's playing transcends gear. It's impossible for him not to sound good. His technique is super clean.

That said, the Katana is awesome indeed. My favorite digital amp so far. I'd definitely buy another one.
Guitars:
'78 Les Paul Pro / '89 SG Special/ '04 Gibson Les Paul Classic 3 pickup / Jackson Star/ Endres Tele / Fernandes Rhoads/ ''74 Hohner MIJ strat/ 2 Partscasters

Amps:
Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

One of the best players on the planet playing for a crowd of 15 or so old guys. :(

Aside from that, he definitely makes that Katana sound good. Almost makes me want to go out and buy another one.
