^ Agree... I have a 9.2 setup (Klipsch/Denon) and it's great for watching movies under the right circumstances. Hearing blood dripping behind and to the right and the sound of someone being impaled bouncing off the ceiling in "Dracula" is pretty awesome. But, if people aren't really into it and making noise (talking/watching videos on their phones/moving around/etc.), it hides the details and makes it pointless. At that point, you might as well listen to it through a generic soundbar. That's why I don't go to movies anymore. Fucking millennials
I Love the smell of nitrocellulose in the morning. It smells like........Victory
Yeah, I enjoy our Atmos setup and Atmos music Blu-rays.
*edit* It also seems the receiver can make a world of difference. I went from a Pioneer to a Marantz and even with stereo or 5.1 surround music, it sounds so much bigger and airy (if that makes sense)

i just replaced my entire system ... removed Pioneer receiver, Sony front tower, center, and powered sub, and 6 Jamo small spherical surround speakers (2 front height, 2 rear surround, 2 rear center) ... and mined about 15 lbs of cables and wires out from the rat's nest behind my audio stand. Receiver was too complicated - always adjusting it when i did use it for movies, and lately just haven't used it at all - just TV speakers.
got a Vizio 5.1.4 Atmos soundbar with wireless sub/rear surrounds. sounds great for regular TV, movies, and music. the sub is more impressive than i thought it would be. the front end speakers are motorized and rotate towards the ceiling when powered on, and the rears have top firing speakers, too. i need to send my wife out of the house so i can crank it with a good sci-fi/action movie LOL
